Big mistake to eliminate divisions. You can rotate the division and still have a similar outcome.

Retaining the divisions means more teams are involved in the title race. It makes your inventory more valuable.
You can split the teams into groups, and then rotate those groups between the two divisions on a repeating cycle. You could still gave three permanent rivals, and play all the schools in the conference twice in 6 years. In some cases, 4 out of 6 years. So basically you would still have 2 divisions, but it would be different teams in each division on a given year.

You are far too kind calling that era inept. The Swofford Error is a blight on the conference we may never overcome.

No real opinion one way or another. Like Dabo says - just tell us who and when and we’ll be there. Interesting that we will be playing Miami 3 years in a row 22-24. Wonder if that has ever happened before?

Little upset that we have to go to NC State this year when we already played at Raleigh last year. I had that one circled for a trip to the Valley!

Wonder how this is going to affect our contractual agreements going forward. Notre Dame becomes an automatic in and out. USuC is, obviously, another contractual agreement. That leaves one spot, unless we go to a 12 game season. We have agreements with okla, uga, lsu ,tx a&m ( I believe, maybe that's over). Is it possible we will play
USuC ND (Plug other major school - okla, uga, etc) This prohibits the cupcake, in state school ( oops, sorry, USuC kind of fits this)

Actually, fuckchop, it was a realistic question about how it affects contractual agreements. But then again, you look to be a Clucker, so what would you know about real football games.

Were the CFP to expand to 8 teams, the Power 5 conferences could rely on a regular season champion for one of 5 auto-bids instead of having that round of CCG's. With 3 at-larges on top, you could push that round back to the 2nd weekend of December, have the top 4 seeds host (two weeks to prep instead of one), and place the 4 losers into a mix with the 'first four out' for the rest of the NY6 bowl games roughly 3 weeks later.

I am ok with this format. Maybe this will force ND to join as a full member due to scheduling conflicts which I blame Swoffie for not getting them in as a full member in the first place.

1. Head to Head 2. Record vs Common Opponents 3. CFP Committee Ranking
CFP ranking would of course be last but would serve as a fair tiebreaker if the two above failed to differentiate.

Orange. You don't want 9 conference games. Reason? You want 7 home games. You play 8 conference games and the costs, that leaves you with 5 home games against these teams one year and 4 the next year. If you want to play a power 5 school out of conference you have to do a home and away deal. The year you play 4 you would play the out of conference team at home giving you 5 games. The other 2 would be someone who is willing to come to your stadium without you going to their's. The year you play 5 you would visit the power 5 team and play the other 2 teams at home who are willing to come to your stadium without a return visit. In a nutshell you wouldn't be doing home and away scheduling with GA, Auburn, Texas A&M etc if you played 9 conference games.

I like playing Wake, Syracuse, BC for various reasons and wish UofL stayed annual but cutting back to every other year is a perfectly good trade-off in order to get those others more IMO.

Notre Dame not listed. I know they aren’t members in football, even though the ACC let them be a member during the COVID year. The conference should give them the option to join in all sports or just kick them to the curb in all sports.

Big improvement. And they chose the correct three teams for us based on our history.
Duke got all 3 of their annual opponents in-state. So easy road trips for their fans. Just kidding, they don’t show up to home games.
UNC’s three were obvious. Wake screwed a little, only getting Duke in-state and no longer playing NC State annually.
All in all, this makes a ton of sense. Looking forward to going to Chapel Hill and Charlottesville more than once every blue moon.
