You could argue that they weren't expecting it.... hahahahaha
Hey... with how our defense has been playing. Screw it.
The only thing I will say is..... I never like trick plays b/c I think it means you don't think you can play your opponent straight up. But... wearing my orange colored glasses, I loved the call even if it didn't work out.

There is not enough lipstick in Clemson to fix up that pig of a call.
Now I’m suffering flashbacks about that failed fake FG stunt in the Orange Bowl last season against TN.

Pretty sure Clemson was 4-6 on 4th down, there were 2 4th down turnovers on downs, fake punt and the last 4th down with Helms throwing it away from pressure. Other than that it was AWESOME seeing the conversions on 4th!!

As far as the fake punt goes, I though the punter went rogue, because the upbacks didn't do anything, now I think they messed up, and left the punter out to dry. They looked lost out there.

Understandable. The upbacks are probably all thinking who would call for a fake punt in this game situation? Dabo can rationalize all he wants, but it hurt the team unnecessarily. Sometimes Dabo goes rogue, which is fine but I wish he’d just admit it wasn’t his best decision.

Who said the fake punt didn't work? It worked perfectly. The offense learned quick if they didn't get their butts in gear and do something, Dabo was was going to take the game into his hands and call some crazy stuff. They didn't want to see anymore of that craziness and played better from there on out, right?

In the context of the situation on the field, where we were deep, the distance was 7 yards AND our offense was not getting it done, it was a really stupid time to call that play. I sure hope he doesn’t get that same attitude against Usuck.

The fake was planned before the game?
If he called it during the game, dumb move.
But planning it ahead of time and then not overriding the call, I don't have the words for that.
Knowing it had a very high chance of failure and shrugging it off, imo, is the same thing as not giving a crap.

It was a dumb call. Field position, timing, distance. No reason for it except “we wanted to do it” love the confidence but just wow. It had no real effect on the game but spotting points is never a good plan. Only thing I can figure is they want it on film to set up an alternate play if we need it in the next couple of games? That’s what I’m telling myself instead of it just being a brain fart

Stupid play and play design. T Davis lead blocking lol. I could draw up a better play in the dirt in Dabos back yard. Or grass. Probably no dirt in coaches back yard.
