The headline is still correct. 3 pointers are a major cause. We are not making them or defending them very well right now.

I just don't get it.... we shot well for the first month and a half. Now we can't defend the 3 and every scrub on the other teams has a career day against us.

It's almost like conference foes have coaches who make adjustments and scout opponents and plan for them.

I didn't think that was allowed...

The problem isn't the sudden lack of ability to make the 3-pointer, it is the failure to coach the team to adjust to this reality in-game during off nights and shift the focus to the inside and taking higher percentage shots. If the entire time is built around the success of the 3-pointer ONLY, with no other plan, then that is a coaching philosophy issue. Either way, the issue is really with coaching/philosophy and not the failure/success of 3-pointers.

This is really just incorrect. Last night we only attempted 21 - 3 pointers. Many games earlier in the year we had 25-30 attempts. PJ, Schieff, and Chase combined for 69 points and only 3 of those came from beyond the arc. They attempted 10 - 3 pointers between them. We did a much better job of getting the ball inside to PJ and Schieff last night. Chase drove the ball to the basket more last night and 8 of his points came from the foul line as a result. Shooting 14% on 3 pointers while allowing GT to shoot 43% on them really was the difference last night. While we shot pretty good from the free throw line overall, we did miss some free throws at very critical times at the end of the game. That could have made the difference as well.

We shot more 3 pointers earlier in the season because we were making them. Had we attempted even fewer 3-pointers early on last night when the shots weren't falling, then we likely don't even have to go to OT.

Clemson is ranked 327th in 3-Point Defense.
There is no excuse for that.
