Run vs pass

1

Nov 8, 2023, 12:22 PM

Would you rather the offense run the ball 40 times like last week? Pass the ball 40 times? Balanced? Don’t care just win? I know the offense hasn’t looked the way most of us thought it would look but do you care how they get it done as long as it ends in a W?

I think we play with the offense we have until we can recruit and develop the offense Riley wants. He's still in year 1. Good coaches/OCs can adapt but I think his TCU offense would be a sight to see if we can use Clemson's edge in recruiting to get the right cogs.

Yeah I'm hoping wesco and Moore can boost the WR corps to the point that we can run the offense he has in his pocket.

RPO hasn't been working.

The shots downfield haven't been working either.

Run to set up the pass.

I did not see any RPO's last week

and I am very happy about that as the offense came alive with great blocking and running. I still do not understand why we are NOT under center on the goal line or 1 yd line.

Whatever it takes. Line up and run the brotherly shove 67 times, do it. Backyard ball, throw it every time. OK. In the words of Al Davis, "Just win, baby."

Mafah and Shipley should have at least 35 carries combined per game. Even when running the ball, we're better when we just play smashmouth with the quick handoff and go instead of being all cute and running the RPO. And just take a our shots off the run, the quick slant, skinny post and drag routes seem to work the most in the passing game....throw a deep ball in there time to time. TE seam route use to work really well too. Still a work in progress even after last week....only 285 yards of offense.

Right now, just do what it takes to win. Riley probably needs an offseason to evaluate what he has and tweak his offense to fit our talent. Hoping some of the new guys can come in and contribute early and get us rolling next year.

If you (and I presume you do) want to win, then you run the ball until Tech can't stop you. GT's run defense is non-existent, the pass defense is 'slightly' better. Tech's defensive strategy is to wait for you to make a mistake and then capitalize on that. The DC (Thacker) was demoted but still on the staff unfortunately.

If the goal is to reach the CFP and be competitive when you reach the playoff then obviously Pass > Run-statement of fact 24/7/365, all day, every day it's 2023 not 1983–

I LOVE the run! I want to run da bawl down the oppositions throat! Then, when they pull everyone on D up to try to stop it, you hit the deep pass.

Now, don't we start off against UGA next season? Wouldn't it be something of these struggles are building up toughness, heart and leadership on the team leading into next season?

Go Tigers!!!
