Thoughts on wheater Dabo wants Clemson to leave ACC

If a path to the CFP is still available to the conference champion, would Dabo want to remain a big fish in a small pond and make the CFP, esp. with FSU leaving and one less competitor. Or would he want Clemson to leave for more money for Clemson? Either way, Dabo gets his 10 million a year.

Personally, I think Dabo is focused on getting his team ready to play this year and will stay focused on being the coach at Clemson and let Neff and the BOT deal with the issue of the ACC. I am sure he is telling the players, stay focused on playing your best which is what he and they can control.

I don't think it matters to Dabo at all who we play week to week. The travel will be annoying for away games but there is already Cuse, BC, Pitt and occasionally ND.

Dabo would take the move in stride, very soon you would hear the Big Ten is the best conference in the country.

Unfortunately, it always comes down to money and Clemson will not be able to compete LONG TERM in the ACC. Whether it's the Big Ten or SEC, Dabo knows Clemson needs to move and I am sure he is ready for it.

Go Tigers

Why would travel be annoying? Unless we are playing in Asia, an airplane ride to Ann Arbor is not much different than an airplane ride to Charlottsville or Pitt or Miami.

Dabo has said he would prefer to stay in the ACC, but...

that may be a bit of a politically correct or poker face type answer. At the end of the day, I honestly don't think he cares. Just tell us where to play and we'll show-up.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

Dabo is the same as other coaches.

He knows in order to be competitive for the national championship he has to have roughly equal financial resources as the teams he is competing agianst.

He knows he cannot stay competitive operating with a 30+ million dollar deficit.

He knows as long as Clemson is in the ACC he will have that deficit.

Conclusion: He wants to leave the ACC ASAP.

I’m sure he is getting tired of having to defend a weak ACC

At the media days every year. It is akin to having to put lipstick on a pig.

Dabo is a Southerner. This will be the leverage needed...

by Alabama to bring Dabo home when Saban hangs up his spurs.

I think he would have preferred it if things could have stayed as they are but he also recognizes the changing dynamics and landscape of college football and probably just wants to see the best option for Clemson come to fruition.

Assuming the ACC is able to find more money and be within a couple million of the BIG 10 and SEC media rights deals I would reckon he would want to stay. But I don't see where you could come up with that much per team. Even a Pac 12 merger with Oregon, Washington, Stanford and Cal would only go so far. I think we have to leave, because without making up that money Dabo will leave us to be nationally competitive.

I suspect Dabo cares about Clemson fans. Fewer Clemson fan will travel to the Midwest to watch Clemson. That should matter to all of us.

NCAA needs to take charge!!!
