The time I talked to Christian Slater..

1985or 86, saw a guy around my age sitting on a dune at Hilton Head just after dark. He had some beers so I thought that I could wrangle one off him, which I did.

I had no idea who Christian Slater was but I had heard the name. We chatted a bit about why he was in Hilton Head;Some girl he was seeing was in a Tennis Tournament.

I didn't realize he was that famous till I told some of the guys and girls at school about hanging out with him on the beach.

My true, dull story.

Saw him drunk in a bar down in the Caribbean. Might have been St. Marten, I can’t remember. I’ve been to a lot of those places, they all kind of run together in my mind. Just like different Greek islands.

I spent 20 years in the canoe club and we would go down to the Puerto Rican op area for weapons exercises. Might have been one of those times. I remember what the inside of the bar looked like and the long hill we had to walk to get to it.

Anyway, he was three sheets to the wind, dancing by himself on a mostly empty dance floor with his t-shirt pulled back behind his head. This was early 90’s.

A “Rosey Roads” veteran .. am sure you’ve seen a lot of “Monkey on a stick” in trying to crawl back to the ship after a night out and about on many of the Caribbean islands ..
