Last night I watched about every you tube post on the internet regarding college fb realignment and the new college fb playoffs.

One site who said they had talked to tv personnel who are in on making decisions regarding the cfp contracts stated that ESPN was the driver behind how the fb conferences would be aligned and how the cfp would be done. He stated that ESPN and Fox wanted a 64 team college conference, split between the SEC and the BIG. They also wanted the bowl games to remain in effect and they could be part of the cfp playoffs. They wanted CBS and NBC involved in broadcasting some of the lesser playoff games.

ESPN wants a NFL type playoff with many teams involved as in the NFL PLAYOFFS. They want to have a football championship week with the CFP being on the day before the NFL Superbowl.

They are convinced that it will play out because that is what ESPN wants and they will be putting up over 2 billion dollars for broadcast rights.

I think it will happen at some point.

If that's the case then I see them also dictating which teams will make up the 64. Teams like Vanderbilt, Northwestern, Illinois, South Carolina, etc. would more than likely be uninvited to restructured conferences. If you're going to 64 teams one would think they would want as many good match ups as possible to draw viewers.

They will want the teams that get the TV eyes. It's all about advertising dollars and viewers. The more eyes the more ESPN can charge for the ads. Disney owns ESPN and is concerned about one thing and that is profit. Nothing else matters. CFB and CFP is strictly a business to the TV industry and to a degree the SEC/BIG. The now view CFB as a semi pro league with the college brands. They will keep the college brands because that keeps generations of viewers.

Two billion over how long of a period?

I thought I had seen references to reports that the network was not doing so well, and that Disney was looking to dump it.
