Student season tickets?

Aug 17, 2023, 2:26 PM

Long story short, I paid for my daughter to join the Collegiate IPTAY. She was entered into the lottery and received 2 games, Charleston So. and FSU. Everyone I talked to told me not to worry she would get tickets to all the home games. That was not the case so now I am trying to find her Hill tickets for the remainder of the games. Any suggestions?

Clemsons process is infuriating! That is all.***

What year is she? My daughter as a Freshman last year got 1 game. Now as a sophomore and joining the Collegiate Club for 3 years, she got all but Notre Dame.

She is a Freshman.

Did you have to pay or was it just the lottery?

Aug 17, 2023, 2:36 PM

Seems like we paid for both of our daughters a few years ago and they were guaranteed tickets, they just weren't sure where. If I remember correctly some of their friends who did not pay did not get tickets to every game. They were both in Student Iptay, the older got better seats than our youngest due to class (senior/grad vs freshman/sophomore).

You can post on TigerTickets and maybe get tickets. Good luck!

I am referring to the lottery. The mistake we made is we should have done the actual season ticket you purchase for like $500. I would recommend for any incoming freshman, if you really care about the games, get the season ticket. You will pay close to that anyway if have to find tickets on the open market. Also go ahead freshman year and do 4 year collegiate club membership. Really helps with lottery. The put your name in 4 times, instead once and obviously odds drastically go up.

If I would have known she was only going to receive tickets for 2 games, I would have paid the $500. I did the 4 year Collegiate Club.

Same with us, never imagined she would only get 1 game.

Season tickets were $180 for upper deck. Very short timeframe that they were available for freshman. Luckily my daughter was serious about getting them. Within 2 hours they were sold out.

Not anymore! When I was at Clemson we had certain days of the week to go down to the ticket box and pick up our tickets. Freshman was always last but we still got a ticket.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We were always guaranteed a ticket. but the line was rigged.

No matter when you got there, somebody from each frat would be in front of you with a cigar box full of Student IDs (which was how you got checked off for tickets), grabbing the primo ones.

student body has more than doubled since then and the team is far more enticing.

Supply and demand.

Teams arent “far” more enticing than those late 80s teams.***

Yep. There’s 2 things in play:
1. Back in the 80’s-90’s we had around 10,000 students and around 10,000 student seats. Now there’s approximately 20,000 students but still around 10,000 seats.

2. Todays students don’t want to go stand in line for tickets, so they came up with the stupid lottery system. I don’t feel too sorry for them because it was their own doing.

I think they should do their little lottery for all the regular seats. On gameday, make hill seats 1st come for students. At least the hill would be as full as allowed and fill up before the entrance…

As I recall freshmen got section GG, and at best at the 10. Every year you gained about 10 yards.

As seniors, a bunch of us made sure we didn't have class Monday morning. We were 1st in line every week, and sat on about the 40 in the lower section.

I feel bad for current students.

...and yet The Hill still can't be full on a regular basis.

Men at 25 play football. Men at 40 play tennis. Men at 60 play golf. Have you noticed as men get older their balls get smaller.

So joining Collegiate club plus semesters completed (I think atleast 12 credit hrs) generates priority points. I know the priority points help students get to the lower student section sooner for ordering student season tickets. I’m not about the lottery.

My son and daughter got an invite to join a GroupMe group of Clemson students that they sell/exchange their student tickets to other students when they can’t attend. As I understand it that’s how tickets get shuffled around during game weeks. The might be other social platforms also set up for the students.

My daughter is a freshman this year and got 0 tickets

It's crazy the way they handle student tickets these days. My daughter is a sophomore this year. Joined IPTAY Collegiate Club as a freshman.

For this year's lottery she only got Hill tickets for FSU and Notre Dame, no other games.

Thankfully for her we have a couple of extra season tickets, so she won't miss any games, but the process was some much easier when I was a student in the late 80's.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

can't she just do it herself?***
