Initial LSU thoughts

I’ll admit I don’t know a ton about their coaching staff, other than what I’ve heard regarding new OC and how he’s changed the scheme to be so explosive this year. However, Compared to Ohio St, I have to think it’s a step down in overall coaching in-game adjustment ability, which I hope bodes well for us.
Passing game elite and much better than OSU Running game probably not quite as good O line just as strong unfortunately
Secondary nearly as strong as OSU Pass rush/run D not as good thankfully
Tough matchup! Should be fun. We gotta get to Burrow

Agree, need to put some pressure on JB. We don't need a ton of sacks. As we saw last night, just an orange blur in your peripheral vision is enough to cause some mistakes. JB gets the ball out quickly, though, so will be a defensive challenge.

First off, congrats. We look forward to a clash of the tigers in Nola.
Our defense has been adjusting well lately. I haven’t watched tOSU enough to compare.
-You’re correct about the passing game. It is elite and far better than anything your tigers have seen this year. -You’re wrong about the run game. We’re loaded with one of the most talented backfields in the country. -Nailed it on the O-line. They have been a nice surprises this season. -Wrong on secondary. Our guys are far better than what you guys went up against with Ohio State. -Sadly, I have to admit you are correct on pass rush and run D. Hopefully, getting Divinity back for this game will mark some improvement.
Finally, for any of you traveling to New Orleans, enjoy your trip. Most of us aren’t as bad as the reputation you’ll see on some of the message boards. May the best Tigers win!

Surprise! Haha good to have some info back and forth man. Agree that your running game is formidable, but Helaire is no Dobbins - that kid looked truly elite last night before the ankle injury. Regarding secondary, that’s been your bread and butter last few years, and certainly top 3 in the country - but regarding individual (specifically cornerback) talent, Okudah and Co have the edge - though your safety play is better w Delpit, so could be a wash.

LSU has a great secondary. So does OSU. Okudah will be a top-10 pick. The other CBs are great as well. LSU is better at Safety. We played a large chunk of this game with our best WR on the sideline. Should be a great matchup, our WR against your DBs and vice-versa. This is where the game will be won or lost.

Dobbins cannot catch a ball. Helaire has WR soft hands and can pick up the blitz. Dobbins may be a better runner but helaire is the complete package (think darren sproles) which is what makes Helaire so dangerous in the offense.

Helaire is nowhere near the runner Dobbins is . He's not even as good as their backup RB . As far as catching it out of the backfield you're right , Helaire is a good reciever with decent power and ok speed . He'll be a tough cover , but don't compare him as a runner with what OSU has .

Your secondary is comparable to the Buckeyes secondary , not better . Your run game is inferior to theirs and it's not close . What you have is a good OL and a really great QB throwing to really good WRs .
We have that too . Our secondary is very good as well . Should be fun .

on that D. I think Ohio State was a better team going into the playoff than LSU and still do. Oklahoma is trash.

than the yards LSU allowed to Ole Miss in the 2nd half.
1) They were up 21 pts pretty much the entire time that was happening.
2) It was the week after the Bama game
3) I'm pretty sure that was the backup QB coming in and just running Rich Rods RPO scheme and it didn't look like LSU was ready for that.
4) LSU had some guys dealing with injuries (Delpit in particular)
5) Their defense has played really well in their last 3 or 4 games.
I could probably go on, but the short of it is don't fall into the trap of putting too much stock into one small event, especially when it occurred 2 months ago.

or when Sammy goes out on the first play of the game against LSU 2012? I could also name more. I do realize it was one game but it DID happen and Ole Miss is....Ole Miss. I said it earlier and I'll say it again: we played the better defense last night. Does that mean LSU will be a pushover? Not in the least but they are more vulnerable than OSU. I have no doubts about that statement.

The trouble with that logic is that North Carolina is North Carolina too.

Go take a look at LSU's game by game stats. They allowed

Texas to run up 530 yards of total offense and 38 points (LSU won by 7 points)
Vandy score 38 points and ran up close to 400 yards of offense on LSU.
UF had 457 yards of offense and led until late in the third quarter in Baton Rouge.
Bama scored 42 points and rolled up 541 yards of total offense on LSU
Ole Miss put up 614 yards of total offense and scored 37 points.
If Auburn could throw a forward pass they would have beaten LSU. Auburn only passed for 157 yards, because Nix was lost. He was painful to watch. Even with as bad a passing game as Auburn's, LSU only won 23-20 in Baton Rouge.

Going to be a grind . We'll need to have success against their defense ( and I believe we will ) and our own defense will have to play their best game of the year ( as I expect them to ) . We're the underdog playing an undefeated team in their backyard . Big disadvantage to be sure .
Tigers have got to earn it once again .

Just be Clemson and keep mistakes at a minimum. Last year Bama with a healthy Tua seemed unbeatable (he was injured during the SECCG vs UGA).

I dunno, the LSU defense gives up 118 ypg / Clemson 112 ypg
I look at all the comparable stats with both defenses and what jumps out is LSU beat 5 of the top 13 teams in the country. #4,#5,#9, #12, #13. Clemson beat #2 Ohio St. I honestly do not see this game being close unless LSU plays its worst game of the year.
