Southern Oaks better condition and more fun.

I can't say that I've ever parred it. Maybe. All I can remember is wondering, "How am I going to hit the green from here?"

Yep, I've played hundreds of rounds there

as a kid my dad would drop me and a friend off in the morning and we'd walk 72-90 holes until he picked us up later that night. Even hitting the green on a second shot is a major accomplishment for an average golfer. I probably did it a handful of times, but I never could putt, so not sure if I ever parred it

Agree. You better hitch up your boot straps for that hole.

I walk away with a bogie and feel pretty good.

I like them both, but I would to go Furman. If you haven't played it:

IMO, almost every hole can hold its own in any private club. The greens are challenging but fair, typically fast and undulating. Up and down is never automatic, nor is any two putt. The shorter par fours leave difficult wedge approches. It's a challenging course that won't do anything unfair to you: par on any hole is gettable but leaves you feeling like you had to earn it. But all golf is challenging to me, so there is that.

Southern Oaks is pretty and fun, a good course. I go there also.

I agree that Furman would be the better choice.
If you play the correct tees for your age and length then it is not to difficult and is fairly open.

I played Southern Oaks a few weeks ago. The fairways and greens were fine but most of the tee boxes were in bad shape. Greens are smaller than what I am use to playing as well.

If cost is an issue, then Southern Oaks would probably be less money than Furman.

Same here. The last time I played at SO the tee boxes were trash.
