Shoulder injuries? Pandemic!

1

Sep 16, 2023, 10:28 PM

It seems to be a pandemic now. Do you think it's because the shoulder pads have shrunk too much? Just not too many yrs ago the pads stuck out past the shoulder. Now they barely roll over the edge of the shoulder. Or you can go back to 80s and the pads stuck out 8" past the shoulders.

I dont recall shoulders being big issuecwhen I played in 80s and early 90s?

That’s an excellent point - the pads hardly cover anything and are thin, just like no knee pads. Looks like we’ve lost two tonight.

I'm concerned about this new no knee pad shorts fad! I thought NCAA had made a rule the knees had to be covered a few yrs ago?

I can't see how this is a good thing with no pads on the knees??

Im shocked that no one has suggested its a side effect of the jab.***

I think a lot of injuries today are due to the advances in strength and conditioning.... tendons can not grow as fast as muscles do. Kids are getting so strong and the tendons can't keep up. Shoulders dislocations and knee ligament tears are the result.

Might be a good take? I was serious when I asked the question. It has plagued us and its a common injury nowadays. But did players just play through the injuries a lot more in the past? Should they be stretching more?? I played football and wrestled but dont recall shoulder injuries. I remember concussions ribs, noses, ankles and knees.
