44.5 yds. per punt on 36 punts in HS. He should get a chance to do that in college. That's close to pro numbers it would seem. I reckon he's going to be on the field for the next play anyway and he's a pretty good tackler so give the kid a chance! Probably cause a few turnovers too.

That would fall close to dead last in the nfl. If you can’t boom it for a yearly average over 50, your career will be around Not For Long. Maybe that’s what you meant. Not For Long average. Remember when we had punters who averaged closer to 50? Pinion was the last. That’s elite punting. That’s what we need.

Very wrong.

Only 6 punters averaged 50+ in the NFL last year. 20 punters averaged < 48 yards.

Pinion didn't average anywhere close to 50. He was 42.6 his last year at Clemson.

Punting statistics mean next to nothing. If you are punting from your own fifteen, you will probably have a higher average than if you're punting from their 46 and trying to drop it inside the ten. Teams with good offenses tend to have lower punting averages.
