Would a female athlete prefer a female head coach? Or who cares as long as they get the job done?

My daughter prefers male- but sees the need to also have a female presence.

It should not matter, but to some it does.

Would any be up to a female coaching the men's basketball team or the football team?

I say obtain the best person for the job.

Yup, that's the exact way I feel about it. Get the best that you hire for the money they are willing to spend to fill that position... Race or gender should never be a question if you're after the best that can be had, period!!!

I liked my male basketball coach much better than my female field hockey coach. But their personalities factored into that, not just their skills at their respective sports and not necessarily their gender.

I had both men and women coaches and good and bad of both. I came to the conclusion that I didn’t care if my coach was a man or women I just wanted them to be good at it. One thing I didn’t want was a male coach who had never coached female athletes before.

Do you have any numbers on how many, male or female, have coached both men’s and women’s college basketball? Seems like once you are on one side you stay there for the duration.
