Staying in Folly Beach around Labor Day. Are there any "must do" restaurant and bar options in the Folly Beach / James Island / Johns Island area? Thanks in advance ...

I second Bowen’s Island-good food and an experience-not sure if it has AC,
Not as good as once was

I ate at Bowen’s Island about 15 years ago and it was disgusting.

One of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had.

Bowens island has it all. Great Charleston seafood, great Charleston views. Although pretty much 99% of the menu is fried food. It’s delicious though.

While you’re here head downtown to Lewis BBQ for the brisket or the beef rib. Best beef bbq east of the Mississippi

Edmunds Oast downtown has got some good beers. The place is always full of big nice fake bewbies too! If that’s your crowd.

Pretty much all have bar food except Bowens Island. Rita’s has a good brunch and The Drop In has great sandwiches (and the best potato salad ever).

Lost Dog is a must for breakfast. The Folly Benedict is a favorite of mine. She-crab soup is excellent also

Bowens island , yes, Charleston crab house, NO! If you make it to John’s island, I recommend the Tomato shed cafe!

i just went to rKitchen.

They never have a menu. Locally source ingredients in the morning and decide what they want to cook.

$60 includes your meal and a bottle of wine. Can BYOB as well.

Food was elevated and classy but not pretentious.

The chef comes out with each course and tells you everything that is in it.

Excellent dining experience.

I also co-sign on Bowen Island and Lewis. They’ve been cooking oysters at Bowen’s island restaurant for almost 80 years too which is cool.

Honestly, if you are in Charleston, you have to hit the downtown restaurants a few nights. I have been around the country in my 49 years and Charleston still ranks as on of the top food towns I have seen. I served my way through school in a few Charleston restaurants. Thus, I am a little biased. Have not been back in some time though.
