NIL is unsustainable in its current format

Dec 16, 2022, 4:33 PM

Ryan Day asked for $30 million last year and the bidding is going higher this year. Jimbo spent who knows how much, Miami and Texas did the same. I don’t see how the big donors can give 1-2 million a year every year. There’s a lot of money at these schools but when will the new wear off of NIL and people say no to these huge requests.
Greed has already destroyed NASCAR, boxing and is killing Major League Baseball. You can’t squeeze blood out of the turnip every day.

Just watch the games because NIL is a non issue.

More than the amount of money will be the return on investment I think. Look at what happened with aTm this year, I think that's going to be an object lesson in the future. Much like the days in the NFL or NBA before the slotted draft signing where unproven draftees were getting insane guaranteed money, high school grads will have to start proving it on the field before getting that payday. NIL will be spent to keep recruits rather than to pay unproven players. It may take a few years, but I'll bet this is how NIL eventually evolves.

NIL was introduced suddenly and caused an explosion

Unless Congress intervenes, there will be little or no restraint and the "wild west" mentality will continue indefinitely.

It will take several years for NIL to settle down. Don't hold your breath.

NIL is just another means to shake down people with more money than sense.

Abandoning its' base destroyed NASCAR, but the rest I agree with.

There will be a few schools with plenty of blood in the turnip.

You mean crowd funding to pay players salaries. There fixed it for you.

Totally agree. Heck the NFL union now may fight for what the college system is doing.

LOL, you do realize...

Dec 16, 2022, 9:55 PM

the NFL salary cap is $208 million PER TEAM. There are 32 teams.

"Crowd funding" of any sort wouldn't even be noticeable.
