Clemson led by 14 at the half on Friday and won by 21 in the NCAA Tournament opener versus New Mexico. PJ Hall sat the final 6:16 of the first half and the Tigers were buoyed by Chase Hunter's 11. Clemson hit 6-of-11 from beyond the arc.

Brownell: I love this team. They're really good players, but they're better people...Really proud of the culture of the program. These guys are fantastic to be around...To be able to spend another week with them is fantastic. Last year was heartbreaking. Some of these guys, you want it so bad for them. These are memories they're going to make for the rest of their lives.

Brownell: I know the quality of play in the ACC. I know when I'm playing against good, well-coached teams. I'm not surprised in the least that our teams are doing so well. I'm really happy for the league and I hope we can continue to be successful moving forward.

Brownell: We were confident. We didn't feel like we were on a skid. We had a confidence about us coming here and the loss to BC probably helped get the team's focus better. From there, our team has played really well. It was good to play some guys we hadn't seen, kinda like our non-conference season when we had success.

Brownell on Hall: Honestly, I was probably too hard on him today. He felt bad that he didn't play well in these two games, but he's a superstar. He's one of my all-time favorites and always will be. I felt bad he wasn't playing up to his level. But the way that game was going, that's basketball.

Brownell says RJ Godfrey has worked on extra shooting and that hard work paid off in the free throw shooting late. Sometimes the basketball gods smile on you, and today was one of those days.

Brownell says defending the three-pointer was the key point of the prep for this game. He says they challenged their guys and mixed some things up on defense as well. "Our guys really competed...Chase was exhausted. Joe was exhausted...Thankfully we were able to make one or two more plays to win."

Baylor's Drew on Clemson's defense: Not many have a front-line that big. I definitely give them credit for it...First half, we didn't make enough shots, and credit them for that.
