Bowden furthered division and Dabo reached out to CDF and he attends practices and most home games now, and it ALL started with Dabo reaching out to Coach Ford

LOL what a crock of shizzle

Dec 30, 2015, 4:39 PM

He clearly has no understanding of the History.

"The Clemson family essentially split into two factions: those who supported their popular, tobacco-chewing head coach and those who supported the Tigers."

W T(F)

Hey dude, Hatfield got fired because he went 5-6 and then...57-0 down in Tally and a loss to Wake. He left the cupboard bare. He could not recruit. It took him only a couple years to lose all of the talent.

Tommy West, nice guy, couldn't coach.

Bowden was an average coach at best.

Dabo wins, that's what brought us together. Nothing but winning will do that.

I was looking more at the divided fractions. And one thing I know for a certainty, he healed CDF's ' resentments" for lack of a better terminology by reaching out to him. CDF now attends practices and home games. Bowden distanced Ford, and that isn't a shot at Bowden, I am sure he was trying to lead in a new direction, and when he got here, CDF was still advertising on radio and tv, he had cast a huge shadow, Dabo embraced the past and included CDF with the future. Just one of the top 100 things Dabo has done since becoming HC

Yep. There was no split. I don't know what he is talking

about. The day after Danny was fired, we wanted a coach like Dabo. When Hatfield was fired, the next day we wanted a coach like Dabo. When Tommy West was fired, we wanted a coach like Dabo. When Bowden was fired, we got Dabo.

People stopped coming to games because what was out on the field, quite frankly, sucked, or was mediocre at best. I was a student from 1994-1998. I sat through a lot of football played in Death Valley (AS A STUDENT) that was NOT Clemson football. The worst game I ever attended in Death Valley was against UTEP. There could not have been 50,000 people in the stands, on an otherwise bright, sunny day. Students were laying out in the stands getting a tan. It was as depressing a game as I can ever recall, and we won obviously. But something was missing.

and not only did dabo heal wounds and unite divisions, he was the first to attempt to do so

Winning heals a LOT of wounds

Dec 30, 2015, 5:44 PM

Dabo just came in and wanted to win, and do it the right way. But the key to Dabo's success is his hires for OC and DC. Choosing to pay our coordinators more than just about anyone else in college football, while settling for an average salary himself. Bringing in old players.....I have been wanting that for YEARS. I would love to see Brian Dawkins coaching DB's. Maybe after a little more retirement he will join the fold.

You are exactly right...winning is what mattered. If Hatfield has won 10 games a year the wounds would have healed a lot quicker. Dabo has done a lot to improve/soothe any old wounds, but winning (and winning consistently) is the best salve there is.

I agree with what you and tiggity are saying that "winning is what mattered" if he hadn't won it wouldn't have mattered, but Dabo did a lot behind the scenes where CDF is/was concerned. I will leave it as Dabo did all the right things, he healed a lot of wounds

So that's why all the bandwagon fans came home?***
