What is Clemsons Interest

I believe that it is in Clemsons best interest to stay in the ACC and see the conference prosper! I do not believe that our vested interest lies in seeing the demise of the ACC and our friends and enemies kicked out on the street just to please a bunch of money hungry 2nd class conference members! ND might be a plumb but they made a separate deal with NBC years ago...and the injuns ain't Wirth takin back to the reservation! With recent history it makes me very suspicious of any FSU apologists and supporters who post on our board...covid travel and such! They should give us back our money! Maybe the CFP committee was justified in leaving them out of the playoff!

Yep. It would just be horrible for Clemson to go to the SEC.

It would take away the pathetic coots' only recruiting point against Clemson. And remove the huge financial disadvantage from being in the ACC. "We" certainly wouldn't want that now, would "we"?

There is more out there than just the coots...we have two natties and have been to the prom many times and you would give that up for a recruiting parity with the coots...so you are saying the costs out recruit us because they lose more often in the SEC...ask yourself, honestly if possible, how many trips would we have if we were in the SEC for the past ten years...we have a national recruiting footprint...Nugget U is maybe regional at best and those with 400 on the SAT...we would have to open a new department of remedial dishwasher with 4 degree plans...be careful what you wish for! When the GOAT makes reference to how Clemson does things that's high praise...Why don't we jump out with FSU, Miami and ND and start the 4 PAC?

Well genius when we are all gone w h o are they going to beat...the scenario now is meant to thwart Clemson and others...how is that working...DJ got lots of NIL money and still wasn't worth a crap...we listened to the national media interests and recruited a dud! DIZZY DEAN said dance with who brung you...it's not over yet...parity will come at a price...If we pay them to play they'll forget about an education, family atmosphere, faith...ESPN and Disney on the same page...if greed wins out we are all doomed...moving to the SEC won't save us...didn't save the nuggets...they still suck!

A big recruiting point and a big plus for the coots is that they are in the SEC. I didn't build the SEC up to have the biggest, strongest, and fastest kids in the league of college FB, ESECPN done that, but the kids that has exceled in HS and college FB they believe that myth, and most of the 5 star recruits coming out of HS want to attach themselves to the SEC bc of that myth...

the ACC. ESPN has pretty much put all their eggs in their SEC basket, and treats the ACC like a red haired stepchild they can't wait to get rid of. Every word out of their mouths touts how great the SEC is, and how below par the ACC is. It has spread to all other "journalists" now, and become a self fulfilling prophesy due to NIL and the Transfer Portal. That is the current reality. I don't see that changing for the better, only for the worse. Sorry for the Eeyoore outlook, but that's what I see.

Competing in the ACC within a few years for top 10 talent will impossible. The P2 will have the most lucrative employment contracts for the players. The G7 conferences will be nothing but feeder programs for talent that emerges on their rosters. The brand equity for NIL will be gone for G7 players and collectives will struggle to pay the big NIL dollars given the second tier status of the G7. That’s the future of Clemson football under the professionalized model of college athletics in the ACC. I’m fine with those folks that are ok with that future. I get it, probably most us despise where this is all going. Anyhow, I think it’s best to be realistic about Clemson athletics remaining in the ACC. It isn’t going to be Clemson competing with and beating the likes of Bama and OhioSt within 5 yrs. Ironically, it’s probably more akin to Clemson as a football power in the 1950’s vs. the established blue bloods.

We won a natty with very little top 10 talent...there are lots of great players out there who still value an education...maybe that is dead and then so is college football...when folks turn off the tv,those who make revenue will demand that something is done...so you are quite willing to pay the money that TAMU boosters pay right now...I live in Texas so I have 1st hand knowledge of what has been inflicted on their boosters...sure that FSU and other portal raiders are doing the same...I honestly feel that wishing good luck to you will be damning Clemsons future in football..we will see! Those NC’s were possible in large part due to generational QBs. Clemson is struggling to sign QB’s to follow that kind of talent already. It will be way worse in a G7 FBS landscape. Clemson in the P2 will have the added revenue to provide the payroll for players as employees as established under collective bargaining to help level up the conference pay rates. Being in the P2 will also help level the NIL situation once IPTAY and the athletic department are more directly involved.

If Clemson remains in the ACC until the end of the current contract its athletic department will receive about $800,000,000.00 less than USuC’s athletic department and about 1,000,000,000.00 less than Rutgers athletic department. Does anyone believe that Clemson will be able to remain competitive with these cellar dwellers, much less Ohio State, Michigan, Georgia, Alabama et. al. (especially in this era of players being paid?) If Clemson (and anyone else in the league) have national aspirations in any sport they must get into one of the big two.

I am also beginning to feel like Clemson's best interest is to stay in the ACC - Assuming we remain the top team we will be guaranteed a spot in the final 12 for the Natty each year.

Only problem, and it is a big one, is the disparity in amount of tv revenue received! Something should be done on a national basis to even this out! My solution is to establish a two tier rating system in which universities are either determined to be Tier 1 or Tier 2 with equivalent monies given to schools each year within their tier level!!!! This would benefit and be fairest to all!!!!

You sound like a northern democrat. Fair?? Shouldn't what colleges receive be earned? What would Tier One be ........ the schools with 100,000 seat stadiums (maybe 90,000) and at the very top of the viewership scale? Those that spend the most on recruiting or has the largest expenditures in their sports programs? Gotta earn it - no socialism for equal pay if you're not at the top.

If the “big two” make their power play and leave us out, so be it. Maybe we can collect a check from SCAR every year along with our victory on the field. Maybe the ACC and B12 teams will refuse to schedule teams from the “big two”…that would be funny.

If you were Neff, and a rule change came into basketball that you had to choose between the NCAA Tourney or the NIT at the beginning of a season (you could be eligible for one or the other, not both), which would you choose? Qualify for the NCAA 40% of the time, make it to the Sweet 16 ten percent of the time, and maybe make the final four once every 25 years? Or qualify for the NIT 80% of the time, make the final 8 about half of those, final four every 3-4 years and a championship every 10? Not really a good analogy, but I am curious what people think. I might take the NIT route, where merely qualifying isn’t the goal…we enter most seasons with a legitimate shot of winning it all.

If we are in the “big two”, what will be our success rate at making the playoffs? How often will we make the semis? Finals? Win it?
