It's hard to watch grown men pretend to be hurt. It's pathetic.

No. Not at all. Ever. Soccer is really good cardio exercise, that’s it.
The fake injuries would make an NBA player or QB blush.

Know how to watch it. And...like any other sport, not all matches are good. Many are m'eh...a bunch aren't worth turning on the tube. And...like any other sport, some are 'can't miss'.
Golf catches a lot of hate...but at least there's scenery. Now...who would watch bowling?
If you're over 50, then you remember the early days of ESPN...compelling sport back then...logging...Aussie Rules Football! Now that had the best referee uniforms ever!
Carry on with your hate of soccer, though. It's US, so I'll watch...same as if Clemson is playing...I'll watch.

For what it's worth, FS1 still regularly plays Aussie Rules Football in the summer. I will say that it's an extremely fun sport to watch. I really with that had taken off worldwide instead of soccer, but I enjoy soccer at the World Cup.

They can cut to a different shot every min.
Bowling is easier to watch because they throw a ball every 40 seconds or so.
There is constant scoring in both.
Soccer is boring because it is just kicking a ball back and forth for 90 mins.
Hockey is similar but you have massive hits and fights.
Baseball is another hard sport to watch.

I would MUCH rather watch soccer than any of the sports you listed…actually, I don’t watch any of them. I’d rather watch cornhole than any of those. To each his own, I guess.
There are lots of reasons why soccer is the world’s #1 sport and it’s not because they “kick a ball back and forth for 90 min”.

Heck yes I’m watching. Soccer is awesome. Best sport in the world. You are free to disagree. I don’t like the fake injuries but I also hate WWE wrestling. Unfortunately a few players make a foul dramatic. I never did. Most players don’t. The good news is soccer is gaining in popularity in America and we can assert dominance in it more going forward.

The flopping is bad and I wish refs would card it more often to decrease the ridiculousness of it.
However, the fitness and athleticism on display is world class. I am amazed at the amount of teamwork, tenacity and ball control skill that is on display in a sport in which hands are all but eliminated.
I don't understand near as much as I would like, but the physical prowess is easy to see and enjoy.

FIFA is even more Corruptthan the US Govt! For all of you Soccer aficionados, when will the US be able to Beat Banana Republics with GDP of Upstate South Carolina???? For 40+ years, the large majority of our Recreational Fields are littered with Youth Soccer Tournaments -yet- the US is still BARELY AVERAGE on the World Stage!

Dude, we're ranked #16 in the world...out of 211 countries. We may get thumped by England today but they're #5 in the world and have been doing it for a hundred years longer than we have, and it's by far and away their national sport.
We're definitely getting better. If you look at the teams above us, the last time the US faced #5 England, #7 Spain, #9 Portugal, #13 Mexico, or #14 Uruguay in a competitive match in either the World Cup, Confederations Cup, Gold Cup, or Copa America, we either tied or beat them. #2 Belgium beat us 2-1 in overtime in Brazil 2014, #11 Germany 1-0 that same tournament. Brazil beat us 3-2 in the Confeds Cup Final in 2009, the last time we played them.
We're competing nowadays, definitely Top-20 in the world, and improving every year. But breaking into the world elite is hard. Like, England's got a 19-year-old midfielder called Jude Bellingham whose transfer fee is probably upwards of 150 million...pounds, not dollars. And Lionel Messi's contract at Barcelona was reportedly E555 million...that's 555 million euros, again, not dollars.
Saying "we're average"...is just not true.

That' OP is f'n hilarious ?.
Yes for the following reasons: 1) USA has had this game circled for 4+ months. 2) Bc Qatar lost and Fox was refused to show all the angry fans in line who lost their QR code and their ticket disappeared. 3) To watch those flopping meladramas ( as seen above) 4) To enjoy a beer while watching with family unlike the fans in that Qatar stadium and/or like games at Death Valley. ?

Penalty kicks are just stupid and render the entire match moot. Cornhole is more legitimately competitive. Still watching. It is better than watching Cal and UCLA play 2 hand touch.

Our American Football is actually pretty hard to watch for the rest of the world. 3 hours or more to watch 60 minutes of actual play with lots of starts and stops and an occasional big play. We get it so it’s exciting but to be honest, too many rules and starts and stops makes our football harder to watch. I love both and get both sports

If (my suspect) memory serves,

I believe Bear Bryant (and likely other coaches) broke football down to its essence...if you can't get in enough shape to go hard for 15 minutes, leave the team.
Don't get me wrong...I love my college football. That said, not having an appreciation for what it takes to play soccer (or rugby, for that matter) at the highest level is denying oneself of its beauty. Once you know the game and how to watch, you can see a goal-scoring opportunity from 75 yards away, when most folks think nothing is about to happen.
Having officiated for a few years, you also appreciate the demands on the crew as they're multi-dimensional. It's not simply enforcing the laws of the game, but establishing the tempo, tenor and personality of the match and how the players will want the match called. It's a feeling out process early on, but the really good referees figure it out and do all they can to see that full talent is on display. It's one of the big rubs I have about football...making a penalty call that has zero to do with the outcome of the play. Ludicrous.
Oh, well, some of us love soccer...others humor themselves with it...and far too many like to ridicule others...same as in politics and gender and...so forth. If you don't like soccer...great...I don't need to know.

I'm not sure anything else really matters at this point unless we beat England outright.
Draw today and vs Iran leaves us on 3 pts and out of the tournament. Loss today and win vs Iran puts us on 4th pts and advancing.

Watching. With intelligence. And soccer players hate diving too. It’s not everyone, but those who do dive/flop get the attention.
Having played both sports at Clemson, I can tell you there are challenges in both. Advantages and disadvantages of size, strength and speed in each. Both require toughness.
