It carried the Big Ten network from day 1 launch, as well as ESPNU. Dish and other cable networks did not.

It will be because of initial cost and/or negotiating position.
Of course they will carry it at some point. They know the deal.

There isn't any college football fans, outside of SEC fans,

that want to watch the SEC network. This past season proved that the SEC is just a media overhyped conference, that is currently the 3rd best conference in the nation. An overwhelmingly majority of college football fans are tired of SEC this and SEC that, because everybody knows the SEC hype is all manufactured. On an even playing field the SEC is no better than any other BCS conference.

Do you really have that much conference envy?

To where you wouldn't want the SEC Network. I hate S Carolina too, but some of the best games all year will be on this network. You are clearly not a big football fan and have way too much conference envy.
Thatd be like S Carolina fans refusing the great product that is ACC basketball. The people on T-Net can really be embarrassing sometimes.

The best games will still be on ESPN, ABC, and CBS. SEC Network will have those riveting matchups like Kentucky vs. Miss St... No thanks!

do you? Also, I'm not even going to dive into your poorly contrived argument using 2 of the worst 3 teams in that conference to downplay the network. Very short-sighted. Run along, adults are talking.

looks like you will stay with cable then. Zero chance direct passes on sec tv. No one will pass despite clem5on's wishes. Have you been reading the industry publications about this?
Horrible strategy by direct. they put out their statement thinking it would give them leverage against espn. Instead, it totally blew up in their faces as they faced a mass revolt with calls, emails and tweets blowing them out of the water. They have already retreated and stated they are still negotiating and hope to have it. But this gave espn/sec even more leverage than they already dad.
Oh, and don't think that comcast et al did not notice the reaction to this.
SEC TV is gonna be even bigger than anyone previously knew- and everyone already knew it was gonna be huge.
Can't wait for A&M-SC. Can you?

LOL. You obviously don't know how carriage rights are negotiated. It is almost always a last minute deal. As of now i think only dish has agreed. But I guarentee, by mid-august every carrier will be on board.
And funny you mention timer-warner. In another brilliant move by sec/espn, it was not an accident that the very 1st game on the network will be SC/A%M. Guess which 2 states have the highest proportion of time-warner customers?

The SEC network will work
Feb 22, 2014, 3:16 PM
|
|
But it shouldn't be on the basic packages. The best games will still be ABC and CBS. The SEC will probably force every team to play one game a year on the SEC network to artificially inflate it's worth. The lie they have convinced the SEC fans is that they would be getting quality television as compensation for buying the SEC network to see that one extra game. The people that are pushing hardest for the SEC network to be included in basic packages probably realize they wouldn't pay extra just to see that one game.
