had responded to Tyler with simply saying, “Hey Tyler, thanks for your service to our country.” Thats it.
I’m sure if I were in his shoes I would have chewed Tyler out too, but I’ve just been wondering what the response would have been if Dabo responded with a compliment.

Are you serious? Considering that Dabo had no way of knowing "Tyler" served our country then I suppose there was no way he could have said that. "Tyler" went straight at Dabo with his rehearsed and orchestrated attack. Dabo didnt back down as it shouldnt have. He has earned the right to be treated respectfully regardless of what we feel about our current situation.
"Tyler" achieved what he set out to achieve and judging from TIs gut wrenching article he is another 20 yr something with issues. Apparently, based on the quote from his girlfriend, this wasnt his first foray into disrespect and stupidity.
As they say, play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

yeah I've wondwered about that too. I suspect they screen pretty carfully and have a several second delay in place for a variety of reasons

He said that he was serving overseas during our dominant run but always listened to Dabo’s press conferences.
So yes, Dabo knew. Dabo just didn’t care because he was too hurt over Tyler’s very reasonable comments.

His comments weren’t reasonable when he attacked Dabo’s character instead of asking for football reasons for the poor performance so far. I served in the military too but that doesn’t entitle me to be a jerk.

When you say that the caller attacked Dabo's character, is it because the caller quoted Proverbs 16:18 "Pride goes before destruction."? Dabo's response was to say that Clemson hadn't sniffed a championship in 35 years and followed that with a list of his accomplishments. That sounded pretty prideful to me. In what other way did he attack Dabo's character?
Dabo on the other hand called the caller a smartass kid, followed it up today by calling him an idiot, and was repeatedly condescending about the callers age. All this despite the caller saying that he had been in the military overseas.
Yes the young man was basically stating an opinion and grandstanding rather than asking a question. However, when it comes to who was attacking whose character, I see things a little differently than you evidently do.

Tyler should’ve said some things differently, but the crux of his statements were fair and reasonable.
I don’t think he should’ve called Dabo arrogant, but ironically, Dabo’s response to him was quite arrogant so maybe Tyler wasn’t wrong.

Tyler could have simply asked Dabo if he believes that he should have hired more outside the program like Chad, Brent, etc etc.
And he would have gotten the standard answer about Tony Elliott calling the Natties.
What do you expect though? He's not going to call out his staff now even he knows he's going to fire them, why would he do that?

Yes. Then to double down today calling him an idiot. Dabo should have let it go. He is highest paid employee in SC, and he represents Clemson. Getting tangled with the young man was wrong.

I think that is what it means to “turn the other cheek” but that can be very hard to do under tough circumstances.

It would have been far superior. Best option would be to answer the question seriously, like Deion did when they criticized him yesterday. Second best option would be to actually behave like a Christian and turn the other cheek. Worst option is to act like an arrogant and spoiled toddler and insult the guy, make Clemson and South Caroline look bad, make yourself look bad because you couldn't answer the valid questions, and then hang up on the guy before letting him respond.

You're right and Dabo should man up and publicly apologize. I've lost a lot of respect for Dabo this month with the comments and his coot attitude.
I believe I'm correct in saying it was just last year after a loss and there was a lot of heat.
Paraphrase: Dabo said "he liked fans that complain and get upset when things aren't going like we want. Hey, I'd be upset if they didn't get mad, because then it'd mean they didn't care... "
A lot of popular posters on here talk with forked tongue too. Laugh at coot fans for saying what if we didn't fumble, or if only we completed that pass, we'd have won. Now it's the popular mantra for Clemson fans.

If that were Dabo’s response, I can assure you that none of us would know who Tyler from Spartanburg is.
Also, there would not be countless threads on TigerNet mentioning the call. No regional, state, or national news would be mentioning the call either.
