Bubba is on a 3 year precipitous slide. He’s looking for the easy money. I guess everybody is, really. At what point does the LIV tour become the USFL? I don’t see the long term sustainability of the tour given the kind of money they’re flushing. By the time it fades into oblivion in a few years, these guys who have jumped ship will be mostly irrelevant anyway.

I’m worried that the Saudi’s have the deep pockets and resolve to play the long game here. Eventually the ridiculous amount of money they are willing to spend (and lose) is going to win out.

I do what I do for the money. Heck, we all trade our talents and time for money. So how can any one golfer or no be faulted for going after higher rewards. I would leave current position in a minute for double the money.
The last pure golfer was Bobby Jones. All this banter about selling out is just that, banter. If PGA wants to compete with LIV they should start putting the money generated by the players into the purse rather than executive salaries and pet projects.

You don’t think PGA purses are large enough? How much is enough? If you play well you are well compensated if you don’t then you better try to improve.
No problems were mentioned about PGA purses before all this started. It’s a great living if you are committed to getting better.
LIV is giving millions as participation trophies. If that’s how you want to make your money in the sport it is very easy to do.

Think the PGA Tour will eventually lose lawsuits challenging the banning of players. I am a lawyer and U.S. courts don't like unreasonable and restrictive covenants not to compete. An individual has a right to use his/her talents to make a living. There can be some parameters but not stating a person can not do a particular job forever anywhere in the world.

PGA executives lining their pockets is funny. Do a comparison of the top 5 sports (nfl, nba, mlb, nhl, mls) and see what median player salaries are compared to commissioner’s salary. It’s not even close. I did the work for you below.
PGA players are far more closer to their commissioner than any of the top 5 sports.
NFL Commish - $63.5 million
Median NFL Player - $860,000
MLB Commish - $17.5 million
Median MLB Player - $1.2 million
MLS Commish - $5 million
Median MLS Player - $248,000
NBA Commish - $10 million
Median NBA Player - $3.8 million
PGA Commish - $4 million
PGA Median Earnings 2022 (with several more months to go) - $1.28 million (avg is $1.9 million)
