2024 recruiting

Does anyone know if we are still looking to add more recruits to this class or are we pretty much done?

247 currently has us ranked at number 13 with 17 commits. I looked at their top 250 and nearly all are already committed somewhere (including some to us of course) or are projected to other schools.

So, just curious how many we might end-up taking.

I don’t think we are in on any more top 250-300 guys so more than likely stay at that 10-15 range. Needed to win the Mike Matthews battle. We also chose Drew Woodaz over going after a higher rated LB to go with Sammy. Hopefully he’s as talented and under rated as his brother. Also hurt missing on all OL basically.

Great points. Yes, I saw where we weren't really in consideration by any of the uncommitted kids in the top 250. That being the case, I guess it would be really hard to move up much.

OL, Matthews and Bolden(thought we had a really good chance early on) were the big misses. You hit on those and easily Top 10 maybe even Top 5. Still a really good class. I’m hoping we try the portal with some proven OL.. especially OT position.

We were on fire in June. The committed recruits were recruiting hard for some of our top offers to commit. Then it kind of fizzled out. As mentioned above, lots of misses. Not sure if you follow Morgan's big board but here's the link which shows you how many top players we missed on. When we were clicking on recruits, it looked like this could be one of our best ever in rankings.

I dont know about Clemson, but Ohio State (and others) are paying more and more attention to the portal. Alabama was ahead of the game in this regard. Ohio State’s slogan is “Developed Here” and they shied away from bringing in a bunch of transfers. But, being able to bring in proven 2nd or 3rd year players, has become more the norm. Ohio State had been bringing in 1-3 transfers a year. Now its more like 5-7. Day mentioned they are going to focus more on it. The “hit” rate on them is higher than most high school players. I get the feeling that 5 stars and high 4 star high school players are going to still be signing good NIL deals. But the portal players that are good are gonna see their NIL value go way up. I think the really good teams may see smaller HS class sizes and not to worry too much about it. Of course there will also be more transfers oout as well.
