With FSU's amended complaint, and with NC actions...

.... my question is, "When will other schools come out publicly in support of abolishing the GOR?"

I cannot believe that all the schools are acting independently and that there is not an orchestrated effort, behind the scenes, by several schools to find a way to get out of the ACC, pronto.

Bret, I agree. Even with the amendment, I still struggle with how any acc school can answer the question "why now " ? Where was the outrage (from all schools) when said agregious acts were occurring...

Tbh, that crossed my mind when I heard judge judy ask the plaintiff why they waited so long to bring said lawsuit... I don't even remember what it was about, but it immediately triggered the question in my mind, how does a school argue both the timing delay and the entire question of why it was signed originally without concerns.

Because schools like Wake, Duke, BC have no where to go other than the Group of 5 or play basketball with UConn in the Big East basketball conference.

ESPN has been the SEC's biggest supporter, even when they didn't have the Tier 1 rights. With that changing after the new deal between the 2, they're getting the lion's share of that pie, leaving ACC & others with scraps.

The Big 10, not to be outdone, negotiated a new deal that spans across 3 (!) networks. 1 of those being the SEC's former home in CBS. 1 was with NBC. When Swoffie was coming up with the leg-humper deal for ND's partial membership, I said the ACC should've have been trying then to at least something done with NBC to bring them in as an additional media partner instead of being tied exclusively to ESPN/Raycom.

The ACC has been stuck with a bargain deal with a partner who's more invested in a competitor & long-term having to swallow that deal due to the panic of getting poached after the raiding of Big 12. We're getting lapped & the big names in the ACC are suffering as a result.

I think theres validity to this and the doctrine of laches could come into play.

If the GOR is abolished, ESPN can renegotiate our contract at an even lower payout. I don't think the schools or the ACC is willing to do that at this point. I my opinion, the GOR is what is holding up a new order in college football. Once the GOR has run its course a new college football will be put in place, and all TV contracts will be renegotiated.
I don't think the basketball schools (like Duke and Wake) want the GOR abolished, because they might end up being worse off than they are now. Just my opinion.

That also allows ACC schools to find another conference

the NC schools are tied together by politics and basketball and they have never cared about football. Those in charge are enamored by academic associations.

The legal environment in Florida favors FSU, Clemson doesn't have that.

Clemson has never really bucked the ACC and I don't see that changing.

I predict ACC cuts deal w/ FSU - FSU then goes to Big 10 and that is it until GOR time dwindles down. Clemson will be stuck w/ the ACC and no FSU. You heard it hear first. Hope I'm wrong.

If Clemson's administration is fine with being in an ACC without FSU that will make even less money in the future, we will have to accept becoming a G5 school. I would REALLY hope Neff and our BoT aren't that stupid.

May just be biding our time for a few years and when or if something happens the buyout would be a much smaller number. Not sure how FSU win’s anything on its own.

If things really get stupid then maybe the SEC or the B1G would lend a hand financially but that is wishful thinking.

Problem lies in the fact that they signed the deal. Not sure with inflation who would have been this ignorant to think this was a great idea. Makes you question the intelligence of those running the show at each school.

bretfsu® at this point you can’t publicly do that without joining the lawsuit. I don’t know all the specifics. However, I expect it has something to do with legal proceedings in Florida vs the rest of the ACC states. Everyone knows this will take years to play out. Clemson and UNC also voted “no” to adding new schools. The others cannot use that in their argument against the ACC. At this point it wouldn’t surprise me if schools joined next week or next year. The only key is to be onboard when FSU officially announces they are planning to leave the conference.

Plyler on his radio show yesterday said he anticipates a Clemson move over next few weeks. The addition of the three new schools put a wrench in the market/revenue evaluations for the ACC moving forward so Clemson had to go back and confirm their data before making a move. I’ve seen others who follow conference realignment on X basically guessing the same. Also, I think it was a smart move to wait on these amended lawsuits that the ACC and now FSU have submitted to the courts.

are writing up “complaint” suits to bring against the ACC, if they haven’t already done so. If they all bury the ACC under a mountain of lawsuits, surely the conference will have to relent. Their war chest isn’t unlimited. The conference is going to be financially destroyed in this process either way, right? Rather than all this bad blood, countersuiting and threatening, why not just dissolve the conference now, go down without a fight, and let each school decide to do what is in its own best interest to do. That’s what every school in the PAC-12 just did (the ones that could anyway). The world would be a much happier place! And the only ones who would be “suffering” (though I highly doubt that) are Jim Phillips and the Swoffords, which I couldn’t care less if they lost a few bucks as recompense for their historic mismanagement of our conference (RIP ACC)!
