Coach Gladnick was a retired businessman but wanted to coach football. Took over a losing record program in '22 and only went 4-8. This year he went 10-4 and played in schools first State Championship appearance but lost 21-20.

Post game comments about turnaround:

"Strong leaders hire people who make them uncomfortable. I hired a whole coaching staff who, at times make me uncomfortable, because I want to be challenged about everything. That's what great leaders do. When a person doesn't want to be challenged, it says more about them."

I think Dabo fell into the trap of hiring guys that were easy manage and not challenge his culture personna he sells at Clemson. This experiment didn't completely work out. I have a strong feeling that Rumph or Luke would be happy to challenge things if they thought there were better ways to coach or recruit. We needed that D1/NFL coaching experience. I think future is bright!

Sounds like a "ripoff" of a recent Mark Cuban article quote

Sounds like Joe Moglia that took over at Coastal and started their run. Was CEO of TD Amertrade but always wanted to coach

I worked for a large corporation many year ago. The owner died suddenly and the inexperienced son took over. The son began to hire nothing but yes men because he was suddenly rich and powerful and couldn’t handle “no”, and the company started to lose money within a couple years. That path never works out.

Perhaps you are correct. The alternative theory is Dabo hired the person who he thought was the best fit for the job, but they simply did not work out.

Similar to buying congressional seats, competently communicative multi-millionaires could absolutely buy their way into college coaching and AD jobs with the right amount of school and NIL donations. Most would not be interested, but maybe it's a new trend.
