sought counseling, likely for the reasons he mentioned and understandably so, likely as well for his family situation - his parents' divorce.

Of course he had a big arm, but that wasn't remotely the only trait every evaluation lauded him for or how he was touted 1-3 in about every profile. Those are 3rd party, and yes, the programs that offered him is an indication of his potential as well - "we don't know other's evaluation", which is exactly what you're told here as you have < 5% of the information and yet you still run off at the keyboard?

What we do know is about every program worth mentioning offered the young man. He changed after his freshman year and from what I can gather, it wasn't Georgia that began to do him in, but the first scrimmage in 2021 where the offensive team was embarrassed was in my estimation the first sign of things that as fans we could see in mind's eye.

The NFL has nothing to do with this, not one of these kids is promised that and that is once again up to them, 100% desire to push through. Is the success of those that do make it promoted? Of course, but it is never promised, because it is a two-way street. You can not promise their half.

As great a job as this staff does upfront, most all the kids that hit the portal are demic of the situation at hand. You can't make them work, and too many now will take the easy way out.

How many kids are shipwrecked in the portal now, watching the sands of their eligibility clock disappear? Do you believe many of them would like a do over? They're young and in too many cases misled.

It all comes back to the two things, ability and desire - the 2nd causes more of your misses than likely most all other things combined.

And we haven't even begun to discuss injury, which greatly impacts both.

with all the new found freedom and distractions in college, you don't know how they are going to respond until they experience it.

The staff passes on many, they do interviews of coaches, teachers, advisors, counselors, family & friends that visit, likely and disappointingly handlers, flag social media et al. in hopes of weeding out any interlopers, but you don't know until they are plunged into a new world. All visitors are graded by current team leaders, Dabo has told stories of passing on recruits because those leaders have told the staff a particular visitor or recruit doesn't fit. It's a tireless effort.

And this issue isn't just athletes, in no way, shape or form, it's all kids who go off on their own without that constant parental guidance. They're 17, the bread ain't close to being done yet. Haha.

Every college goes through it, others more so because they don't do the same work up front. We as fans hear very little of what goes on inside football programs, every program has a Love Shack, but even less so at Clemson because it balked years ago at having set, written guidelines for "sports" as was forced upon that HS program in the Midlands and many others because of the problems.

If you hear about a Clemson player getting in trouble, it's usual because they face Student Policy first and always or Dabo mentions the Love Shack or Accountability Points...

There is no crystal ball, unfortunately. If so, I'm sure everyone would use it and a lot of this might be avoided.
