Duke and UNC have had some great teams over the years but I will never be convinced that they would not have won a number of games if it had not been for a disparity in free throws. Hard to swallow when you are on the other side and you know going in you will have to beat 8.

Yep. I remember a game in ch against dean, the feet and the refs . We were about to win but the refs intervened by calling a foul on one of our bigs that caught jr reeds elbow in the face. Followed by a technical on our coach.
That 6 point turnaround was the difference.

I remember that! we had something like 36 fouls to their 3! I think that was the game where Barnes took his jacket off like he was going in. When I mentioned it to my Tarhell friends here they simply replied that UNC plays more of a finesse game. BS! five guys ain't going up and down the floor for 40 minutes without touching anyone.

fouls than UNC and Duke because we were the less ATHLETIC team. Then, when UNC got Slo Bro Hansbrough, they said,"But he is just so physical...he draws a lot of fouls...".......
