Who here would be willing to sacrifice Clemson Football's

success for the name of these honor's college/buildings? If it came to the point where 4-5 star recruits wouldn't even come to campus because of the honor given to men who were obviously proponents of slavery, would it change your mind about how important the name of these buildings are? Would 6-8 wins a year, celebrating 9 win seasons, be worth keeping these names of former slave owners?
For me the only answer from a true Clemson fan is not no, but HELL no.

Definitely not me, but "proponents of slavery" is a low bar

I have ancestors who owned slaves and fought for the Confederacy (I have others who fought for the Union). One even signed the South Carolina Ordinance of Secession. I can't say that I am proud of everything my forbears did, but based on your argument, I should change my name. Not gonna happen.
And whether it was being a proponent of slavery, stealing horses, or incest, if you look far enough into your own family history (or anyone's), you will find something that makes you feel uneasy.
If it is what is best for Clemson University and the Clemson family, then change the names.

For me, this name issue comes down to the same thing as

flying the Confederate Flag over the Statehouse years ago. Any perceived "good" derived from keeping these names on those buildings now is far outweighed by the negatives of doing so. Time to change the names and move on.

Same here. I tend to be resistant to change and certainly

oppose change for the sake of change (or because someone is demanding it), but I know what the flag represents as a symbol to many. For that reason, you will never see the flag on my car, my house, or my person.
I would like for the building currently named Tillman Hall to still be a symbol of our University for many years to come, but I am not sure that it can be without a name change.

Nobody needs you to change your name.
Help Make your name now proud and synonymous with equality, acceptance, and love.
We’re just not honoring your confederate ancestors because, they destroyed the lives and legacies of hundreds innocent black people in the because of racism and bigotry.
Tillman and Calhoun never intended for people like me to obtain a degree from Clemson, but gratefully change was enacted because people fought for human rights.

Since you said no, what about changing the name of the university? Same answer?
Because if you think it’s going to stop after Calhoun and Tillman, I have some land I want to sell you.

Yes I would very much still pull for the SC A&M Tigers, still orange and purple right? Would I like it? No. Would it take a little getting used to? Of course.
Since you asked, would changing the name of the school put you or any of your loved ones in immediate danger? Or are you just scared of the way it would make you "feel"?

It is time to take a stand, so YES I would give up Clemson football to avoid giving into political correctness.
IF ANY NAMES ARE CHANGED, THE NAME OF THE UNIVERSITY MUST ALSO CHANGE! At that point, why do I care? I go two degrees from a university that does not exist.
I'll simply give up college football as the one sport I follow and watch. Really, it is better for all of us anyway... we should spend more time with family and do other things that actually make a difference in the world.

Since, I won't use PayPal because of their ridiculous PC-ness, I can't edit my last post.
Wanted to add after the name Clemson is changed, all of us, including you, that graduated from "CLEMSON" will be associated with the stigma of racism. Your degree will embarrass you because you went to a school with such a close connection to slavery and support of slavery.
You probably won't be able to blame liberals for discriminating against you for attending that university. Maybe you will accept your fate is to go from job-to-job trying to make ends meet while silently you get rejected by mainstream America because they know who you are inside. And that's how it all ends for you, but you had it coming because you used your white privilege and got your education off the backs of slaves.

Not me. Change’em. To me, the history of human existence is a history of the powerful subjugating the less powerful. It is not unique to American existence. Egyptians, Persians, Greeks, Romans, Mongols, Chinese, Japanese, Vikings, Turks, Dutch, Portuguese, Spain, France, Russia, England and I’m pretty dang sure it went on in Africa and South America prior to European contact as well. We cannot change the past, we can only acknowledge it. We can change the present and affect the future. If we cannot change the present, then I frankly can’t think of any reason for us to be here.
