Why does everyone use the term "two deep" as the measuring stick for depth. When was the last time the "two deep" was all that played during the year? I'm not talking about garbage time, but talking about players getting injured and being out for extended periods. We were playing a lot of freshman in the secondary this year that were no where near the "two deep" at the beginning of the year. Thankfully most of the time they played well.

In my opinion, "four deep" is what you need. The difficultly is with the portal some of them will leave for more playing time. Except for Mukuba (who wanted to be closer to home) that is why almost all of our players entered the portal this year. Those that had their degrees I wish them well and hope they have a great last year of football.

Really ??? Of course you need more players on your roster beyond the first and second string. Using the term two-deep is simply a way to reference the starters and then their primary back ups. This isn’t hard.

Since they imposed the 20 hour a week rule you don't have time to "scrimmage" more than "two deep." While doing individual/position drills they can do more, actual practicing of plays against the "scout" team is limited.
