CK2 and Mafah are undefeated when both starting

Barrett Carter and Sammy Brown will be the first dual 5Star LB corp at Clemson
The big body Wes Goodwin recruits will finally be on the field

The offense is about to light it up .
Hoping JSapp jumps Brinningstool for starting TE or gets moved to WR

I think you meant to say that you can win with a talented, experienced and physical Oline that has an efficient and experienced QB.

Clemson will need more from a QB than McCarthy delivered in the Natty

to win the Natty next year. He completed 10 passes for 55% and 140 yards with zero TDs. Not very efficient and quite pedestrian.

We'll need more than that from Cade to win it all. We'll be a much better passing team next year than Michigan this year.

Briningstool has been better as a WR than a TE. Unfortunately he isn’t a WR and his shortcomings as a blocker have really hurt our offense. The lack of quality blocking from our TE’s and WR’s has been a big part of why our WR screen game has failed and also is a big part of why we aren’t effective at running to the outside. When you go back and watch our games from the NC seasons the blocking on the outside jumps off the screen at you.

Blocking from our TE’s and WR’s is in my top three of areas that need improvement for us to return to contention. I hope we can get it done.

Spot on assessment of what needs to get fixed on our offense if we are to ever win big while playing a good, but not a star, QB.

Not only have we had two 5* linebackers on the same roster, we had a recruiting class that included 2.

In 2011 we inked the number one and two ranked (per 247) OLBs in Stephone Anthony and Tony Steward. Unfortunately due to injury Steward never reached the heights that many of us thought he would. Even with those ranking I would make the argument that neither of them ended up being the best linebacker in that class; an award I would give to a Mr. B.J. Goodson. Lateek Townsend was the fourth LB in what may have been our best LB class ever landed.

That 2011 class was loaded with Sammy Watkins, Martavis Bryant, Eric Mac Clain……

I'm standing here looking up at that "if" and figuring out how we scale it. That is a huge ask for Luke to make chicken salad out of chicken $hit. May take a recruiting class of his or 2 to make that OL championship caliber. But maybe not, who knows. Go Tigers!!

OL: For the KY game, our OTs (true starters on our OL) were not bad. Not great, but not bad. Our G play in the KY game was bad, and Sewell (a true FR backup player) was awful. Frustratingly, C Will Putnam was overmatched (which really disappointed me).

Our OL in 2024 will be far better than in 2023 … provided that both starters at G are able to play the entire season and not have to play while hobbled by injuries. M.Tate (one of our starters at G) is very good; Tate is the best OLineman on the team. W.Parks (our other starter at G) is a very good player whose somewhat recent playing experience at G will equate to excellent play in 2024.

OTs Leigh (first year starting in 2023) was OK; he clearly has ability. I expect him to be truly outstanding next year. OT Blake Miller has developed into a good run blocker and he is no longer bad at pass blocking. Miller needs to get better at pass blocking; he’s athletic enough to achieve this during, in his 3rd year as a starter, he 2024 season.

(*). The big ??? Is Center. With Putnam’s departure, this is now a glaring concern.. If unsolved, then poor play from the C position will negate what should be excellent play by both G’s and OT’s.

Great analysis and equally great speculation.

The past couple seasons it’s felt like our Oline was ill prepared and lost. The amount of injuries plays a part in that but doesn’t provide an excuse to be completely lost with players consistently missing assignments or just not knowing their assignment. Heck, at least touch someone.

Center was the top position of need for us to bring in a portal or grad player that could at least compete for playing time. My fear is that we’ll see the same thing play out this season that we’ve seen in the past ; halfway through camp we hear about one of our guards moving to center and then the rest of the line is shuffled. My hope is that coach Luke turns that group around. For the record, I think he can. We have talent in the room, they just need some coaching and inspiration.

I think we'll start anywhere between 14-19. The only reason we'd get in the Top 10 or around it is because we play GA first and they'll want that to be a early Top 10 matchup. So the early ranking doesn't matter to much.....win that game and you're around the Top 5 regardless.

Kudos to Stewart Mandelfor doing his research on knowing what Clemson players will be back unlike some of the other outlets(ESPN)that doing a copy cat and ranking teams based on this year. I would have been satisfied at the moment with Clemson being in the top 15 until we see how things go but definitely not outside the top 15.

I too have high expectations but this repeating of should be an improved offensive line is getting old. Been same story for numerous years now with little results in that position. Time will tell.
