Zac foster might be the best true freshman brownell has had

Simms was good, but not as good as foster immediately. Blossomgame redshirted. Hall became great his sophomore year. I’m not sure who else would have been better as a freshman

Best freshman guard since Skip Wise. That's a long time.

That dunk was wild. His head didn’t look too far from rim-height on one of the replays

He's going to have to be as it stands right now. I trust Brad will find the balance on how hard to push him, and not destroy his confidence. Do we continue to play him even at the sacrifice of some L's in December. Saying, so he's ready for league play.

Already looking forward to Saturday. I can imagine some may give up on this team early but I'm not. If we go 3-2 over the next 5 games, I'll feel much better going into league play.

Was real impressed with Brownell's press conference. Thought it was spot on. Loved hearing RJ speak too. Definitely one of the leaders on the team. Well spoken. Definitely rooting for us to play uga Sunday.

Seeing you guys high on Davidson when we picked him up, is he going to be tough enough for the acc? Saying, he had a great game against garden webb but not so much since. Kinda expected an Ian schieflin esq from him, or am I wrong? Thoughts?

Foster had some really impressive assists last night where he drove the length of the court and dished it off at the end, he really covers ground when pushing the ball, fun to watch.

Davidson is kind of wait and see for me. He hasn't been playing a ton of minutes, and I think that's due to his experience. Brad may be keeping him fresh for bigger spots, potentially.

He played a lot at Georgetown, and I thought played well. He is a good scorer inside when allowed to post up, and I think could be relied upon for a bucket to stop a drought. Defensively he is so so, we will see.

Carter Welling is my biggest surprise so far. Dude has size, has hop, can score, and rebound. He is fun to watch and I wouldn't be surprised if he takes over a starting role as long as he can stay healthy. Alternatively, he's great coming off the bench as well, no loss in production.

If I am being totally honest, I have been EXTREMELY underwhelmed by Davidson. He is a bit of a stiff -- not very athletic at all. Average defender at best, maybe slightly below average. He has a nice set of post moves offensively, but that's about it. Welling is a far superior post player in my view, though he lacks some of Davidson's touch around the rim. He definitely makes up for it with athleticism though, that dunk in transition last night was a good example.

Foster is the best guard I've ever seen Brownell recruit to Clemson out of high school. He is so fast in transition, he's got a solid jump shot (his percentages will increase as the year goes on, I know they're not great now), and he plays with no fear. Can't wait to see him continue to develop.

Davidson seems to get lots of shots near the rim blocked. He is 6'10". It is a bit concerning that continues to happen.

That's what I'm seeing too. The acc is going to be strong this year. Got to have the strength to bang it around inside.

Looking back at Davidson’s stats from Nevada, I think we are seeing about what you’d expect. In 31 minutes, he had 13pts and 5 rebounds. His best rebounding average at Nevada was 7.3, and 6.5 last year. In limited action last night he didn’t contribute. Maybe dealing with illness or not adapting well to a quick turnaround from Saturday?

Coach Brownell said last night after the game that hard to play the big guys against a team that has a lot 6-5 athletic guys scapeing at the ball and that is why Davidson just played 17 mins
Also, a lot of people need to realize the heavy hearts the two Davidson boys are dealing with in the family that happened right before they came to Clemson. I think he will be fine in the bigger match ups like he showed Saturday at Georgetown.

Forgotten about that with the Davidson's. I have to go back and listen to Brad again because I didn't catch that part about Davidson.

I feel like Foster should get about 20 mins/game, they have 4 guards who can all contribute, but he seems like he is going to be the best out of the four by the end of the season. Honestly, he probably gives you the best chance to win, Porter hasn't gotten going yet, Hunter is limited offensively, and Johnson has been virtually nonexistent. Maybe it does make them lose a few extra games, but with the portal, you have to show as much commitment as possible to players like him. I'm sure big-name programs are going to be beating down his door to get him to transfer if he continues to progress like he has the last few games.

As for Davidson I'm not too worried, he hardly played last night and looked alright against Georgetown. I think they're all still gelling, but this weekend we'll have a better idea of how he'll look going forward. Every guy Brad brought in was the top dog at their previous school, so they're all probably still learning how to play within the system without being the go-to option.

Davidson's not really a Schieffelin-type player, he's probably closer to PJ Hall, but slightly worse defensively. He's very good posting up and can hit 3's slightly better than Hall (going by career averages). PJ was better suited for the center position, whereas Davidson is better as a PF; I could see Brad sliding Welling to C due to his size and strength on the block (honestly he might just guard the better offensive player).

You're forgetting Buckner, who is probably also better than Hunter, Johnson, and Porter. He's not a very good outside shooter, but he's better at everything else.

That's true, if possible Hunter, Buckner, and Foster should get the main rotation of minutes, with Porter and Johnson coming off the bench. The team is still forward-dominant, but I'd have Foster/Buckner on the floor at all times.

Thank you. And thank all of you. This is the T-Net I like. Good discussions, no hijacked posts.

I'm ignorant about bball. So I trying to learn from y'all. So please don't misconstrue that I was comparing him to sChief. I love this team and really getting into bball.

PJ was a hoss and a hunk. His arms and shoulders made me blush. He didn't mind whacking someone in the paint. Strong man. I look at Davidson and see a young hunter Tyson... and me and Jacob Bridgeman love hunter and PJ. Love your posts.

Basically Foster is a future 1st round draft pick. Not too many guys at the guard position have done that at Clemson..
