2023:

Clemson Offense: 52nd/133 in YPG (13 games)
Clemson Defense: 8th/133 in YPG (13 games

2024:

Clemson Offense: 12th/134 in YPG (13 games)
Clemson Defense: 65th/134 in YPG (13 games)

What’s the difference?

Personnel.

In 2023 we had virtually no WR threats. We’ve added Wesco/Moore who have proven to be great.

On the defensive side, we lost Nate Wiggins, Ruke, XT, Trotter Jr. and Tyler Davis to the NFL from ‘23.

We also lost guys like Mukuba, Toriano Pride, and Lannden Zanders.

Pretty insane.

We definitely lost a lot of talent on the defensive side.

Defense is always going to be skewed so hard to assess. We didnt have any blow out games in 2023 were the 4th string came in. Linebackers are good but had to wait on Sammy to get enough reps to be starter

Great point.

I'd also argue that we've played a tougher schedule this year.

2023 "Tough Opponents": Duke?, FSU, Miami?, Notre Dame, and UNC?.
2024 "Tough Opponents": UGA, LvL, Pitt? (fizzled down the stretch), Yardbirds, and SMU (so far).

Granted, we have played some TRASH ACC teams this year too (Stanford/FSU).

Hard to totally compare everything apples to apples.
