Response to CMoney regarding defense "hate"

Is it hate to recognize that the one top tier program we've played so far hung a lot more than 14 on our D?
We're fixing to play some teams in the remainder of the regular season that, while not at the level of UGA, are still probably better than all the teams we've been beating up on in the games since UGA. Our D will need to continue to improve. Make it clear: THEY AIN'T THERE YET. We would struggle to stop just about any team we'd face in the playoff. We'd be forced to win shootouts. If that's what it is, so be it; but to act like this defense is anywhere NEAR the best squads that Venables put out there is crazy talk.
We're getting there. Hopefully they grow into it and peak at the right time.

LOL
If your kind weren't whining about the D, you'd be whining about something else. IT'S WHAT YOUR KIND DO .

I truly couldn't care less what you think about me or my Tigernet posts. I made a comment about CLEMSON FOOTBALL and explained my reasoning; you did nothing but call me names. Why not be a grown up and respond substantively to my post?? If I'm wrong with my assertions, tell me why. Otherwise you're just wasting space here, posting childish insults.

Thank you for fleshing out everything I said below in one useless, succinct, pathetic attempt at an insult.

If I had responded to him there my response would have been buried and no one would have seen it.
Now, instead of critizing me, how about responding to my post? Or call me out in a new post and respond there. I really don't give a shyatt... just post something substantive about the subject at hand. All these old gits who just want to call names when anyone posts anything but sunshine and roses gets REAL boring. That's one reason why I ignored a bunch of people and finally quit donating to this site. A lot of the people here are interested in their cicle-jerk point parties, but they don't really have anything to discuss about Clemson sports. BORING.
I donated to Tigernet for YEARS, but I finally rid of wading thru wannabe comedians and virtue-signaling ninnies who insult anyone who dares to say anything more than GO TIGERS!!!.

and does not require a new thread to respond to an existing thread.
As for the rest of your post, well, people are people and I let them be people. The best part about my Tigernet experience is that I’m not the only one here.

They gave up 3 points in the first half. The 2nd half was bad but I believe that had more to do with our offense doing absolutely nothing. It's hard to stop a good offense over and over again when you get no help from your own offense.

That was also almost 2 months ago. Our D has been playing great since. People want us to be top 5 in every statistic and that's not going to happen when we blow teams out with our offense and get guys playing time. I don't think the D is perfect but I believe we have been just as good this year as the years with BV coaching. He had some games where we gave up big numbers too. I've seen it against way worse teams then Georgia.

Three years earlier our defense held the eventual national champs offense...

to three points in Game 1, a game where our offense only scored three points. Their only TD was a pick six by the biggest bust in Clemson recruiting history. You really think our defense that gave up 34 points in Game 1 of the 2024 season is comparable to that 2021 squad? You're entitled to your opinion, but again... to me that's crazy talk based on the comparative evidence.

Defense has room for growth but 2021 had studs and this group has studs in waiting. If they stick around I say it could possibly be really good, but in this age of college football next year starters are no guarantee.

Thumbs up to you!! We have some excellent young talent and some long-time guys who are finally making an impact. If these guys keep learning, improving and can stay healthy, we might very well have an elite level defense by the end of the season. I'm pulling for that. We have some DBs who need to learn how to look for the ball downfield. WAAAAAAYYY too many PI calls in the Wake game. Other teams are watching that.

I never said our D was as good as 2021. Our defense is still very good tho and I believe Wes has done a great job as our DC. I want our D to be number 1 statistically in every category but if we are not I don't think we should be wanting to make a coaching change. Our D has been very good this year imo. I just don't get what people expect. We have killed everybody we have played since the UGA game and the D has been a big part of that.

I would expect us to be competitive with UGA. We weren't in the first game of 2024. Where will we end up? TBD. I'm hopeful, but I'm also realistic to know that we've got a ways to go before being back in the mix at the top. We play Tiger football for three quarters on Saturday. We'll need four quarters like that to go anywhere in the post-season.

Respectfully, I don't know how some people here face the day. The hand-wringing

about our defense or recruiting or the portal...it is brutal.
It's the argument that our defense is imperfect? Granted. Is it that we can get better? Granted. Is it that we should all worry about our woeful defense? Respectfully, I'll just enjoy the tremendous performance the Tigers are putting on this season on all sides of the ball.
14 points on the road against Wake, while also getting two turnovers that lead to touchdowns? Ole Miss gave up 311 yards to Wake and we gave up 233.
We held FSU to 250 yards in Tallahassee and 13 points. Stanford got 14 points...7 in garbage time.
Oregon gave up 34 to Boise State. UGA gave up 31 to Miss St, 41 to Bama. Miami gave up 34 to VT and 38 to Cal. Bama gave up 40 IN A LOSS to Vandy. They gave up 35 to SC. LSU gave up 21 to "Nicholls" (a school I guess?) and 33 to SC. These are "top 10 teams". Yeah, Texas has looked great...that's fine. Most of the Top 10 has given up plenty of points to "inferior" competition.
I mean...you know the other team is trying too, right? Coaching and players, practices and strength training...film...all that stuff. We aren't scheduling the Washington Generals every week.

It might not necessarily be hate, but depending on what you conclude from it

. . . it might be short-sighted. BV had plenty of games as DC where we got burned. It happens. Georgia is elite. I think what matters is that kind of thing over time, not one game out of six so far this year against a great team. It's also hard to deny that over the last few seasons, the offense's anemic/inconsistent nature has put undue pressure on the D, and has made it's performance seem less stellar than it otherwise would have looked.
