Such an odd landscape in college football, the old gray mare sure ain't what she used to be. So what are your plans for this weekend, and the final open date of the season?
I'm trying to squeeze in an enjoyable college football season (or maybe even just another one week at a time), but of course that is teetering. not only has Clemson slipped, but the entire college football landscape has been flipped on its head. There was a time when an open date meant a stress free 12+ hours of watching other college football games. I think I can still enjoy tomorrow, but for sure it feels like it may be one of the last open dates I feel like I can enjoy.
I'm guessing i'v attended 325ish games over the years. So many memories and endless excitement, but now it's just not that big of a deal.
I'd love to get an old fashioned hill run with the cannon, balloons, and player excitement. A tiger band playing one of John Phillips Sousa's best known marches, the Washington post. A few kiddos sliding down the hill(s) in a cardboard box. A game without a four minute commercial break or instant replay review. I want to hear Leonard's Losers then Hurricane Duane on the Tiger Tailgate show. Would love to park in Pickens county and not across lake hart well. Give me a tiger paw painted on the cheek from central spirit, or a classic spirit blitz game.
just trying to soak up an enjoyable college football weekend, as I know those Saturdays are limited.
Enjoy your weekend, reminisce about the olden days, and try to muster up what the clemson family means to you. Go Tigers!
I loved seating in the stands before smart phones and everbody at the same time would here the scores from around the country and the stadium would cheer or boo when certain scores were announced.
We must be about the same age and starting with going to games with my grandparents in the 60's, eating at Dan's or The Clemson House before the game that always started at 1, 47 years of season tickets until we stopped the COVID year, away games through the years and probably 12-15 bowl games, I am in that 325-350 game range too. Clemson football has always been Saturday when everything else was left behind but now I enjoy our games of course but also watching other games all day Saturday. College football is a great game and has not changed.
