Never ceases to amaze me that you wait and wait and wait to hate on Brownell. This man has put Clemson basketball in the spotlight for one of the few times in our entire history and here you are again, hating. We played a horrible half of basketball that can’t be denied. But we missed layups, dribbled balls off our foot out of bounds, and couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn with any shot. It happens. But the ‘blame Brownell’ move is tired and old. We are in rare basketball territory but you throw that all away for a scapegoat and it’s really tiring.

What's funny is had we come back and won by 1 at the buzzer, you people would feel somehow vindicated like Brad had somehow done an amazing job against #12 seed McNeese State. The guy needs to be worshipped, no matter what.

I’ve never been high on Brownell. I was one of the only ones upset about the elite 8 run last year because I knew what it would bring. FSU ‘03 fellas, FSU ‘03

- Never played in the ACC Championship game
- Regularly lost in first round games
- Couldn't win the ACC during its worst season in decades
- Only went to 5 tournaments in 15 years
- Purnell and Barnes went more consistently in shorter spans
- Ellis and Barnes went to the Sweet 16
- Ellis won a regular season title in arguably the hardest era of the ACC
So, outside of winning an insignificant game in Chapel Hill, what has BrownL done but just languish in mediocrity?

He was cruising for another "A" like last season but lost points solely b/c I felt we played our worst basketball in these late season tournaments.
We were bad against SMU, bad against Louisville, and bad against McNeese. With the McNeese game I felt we were not going to guard them man to man so I figured he would settle for some type of zone and force them to shoot outside but it didn't happen until really late in the 2nd half. We just kept getting smacked around. I feel like he's gotta take some risks every now and again and mix up looks. Especially when we're getting trounced by a team we shouldn't be getting blown out by.
So when it mattered (this season) we froze. Went from an A- to a B-.
His good grade comes from season success. WE beat some good teams this year and stayed primarily steady against teams we should beat (outside of maybe 2 games Gatech/USuC.) Highest win total in school history this season. Did good work in the transfer portal. Was able to retain Chase Hunter for another season. Was undefeated against all the North Carolina teams. Put a good product on the court and had a chance to be special.

the only rare air we are in is that we became the 1st ever win for Mcneese in the tournament. dont act like it was 1 game , we played like that for the last month. when the competition ramped up, it was game over. 2X in 15 years we have advanced past the 1sy round, that is mediocrity, not rare air.

Players are making 6 figures in NIL money now. We can call these guys out when they suck. Brownell and the staff aren't blameless but this loss falls mostly on our players. They came out completely flat and it was the most pathetic half of basketball I've maybe ever seen.

I think the 13 points in the first half was somewhat a let down. It is March Madness though, so oh well. There is always next year or the year after that.
