Because Trump is telling them to go ahead and do it.
Why fight so hard to not release, then when it's time for the vote, tell them to go ahead and release?
It's because they don't have the votes to release it.

So he doesn’t want to look like he’s lost the party.
But he thinks he’s figured out a solution to still keep them from being released. He’s going to use the “I would totally release them but I can’t because they’re part of an active investigation.”
That logic unfortunately works on people.

Won't ever happen. Trump is right. Even if the house passes it, then it will stall in the senate.
Wood be neat to see it land on his desk though. He'd veto it.

I think he thinks or knows there is no proof that he actually bopped any youngins and that is possible, as I do believe that information would have been released by Biden's handlers.
I also suspect even though this will show he knew what Epstein was doing. he figures he can weather that storm as he already has and is doing so. Since he's not a LEO, teacher or physician, I don't believe he was legally required to report Epstein's crimes.
He knows he's lost this battle in the House. I doubt Senator Thune will shelve the matter, but perhaps he will and Trump knows that?
We're living in weird times.

If Trump is serious, he doesn't have to wait on the House or the Senate.
