May 10, 2012, 9:53 AM

i'm still waiting for tamu to say, "april fool"...

May 10, 2012, 10:09 AM

instead i think they'll be saying, "we pity the foo" that joins the BigTejas+11ish.

that's hilarious.... .sure, Texas was a HUGE problem for

May 10, 2012, 10:10 AM [ in reply to Re: You guys can't be serious when you complain about Texas ]

TAMU... as they have been for OU, OKST, TT, etc... But the Longhorn Network directly effects those schools. More than half of OU's roster is from Texas. TAMU was at a decided disadvantage b/c of that.

If we were in the Big XII, do you really care if Texas shows high school games on the LHN? High School games are shown now in Florida on the Sunshine Network.

The only issue we would have is the stigma that Texas may have more pull in the Bix XII office... All the other stuff is just stupid.

no stigma york, they gave up some of their voting share, but

May 10, 2012, 10:13 AM

it's by no means equal yet and may never be from everything i've read.

now the new commish might smooth all of that out, but tejas has only appeased osu and ou for a while; i doubt they would think twice if the BigX or the SEC came calling for 2 more teams.

they'd put a bullet in tejas in more than one way.

I agree with you... however...

May 10, 2012, 10:16 AM

Texas doesn't want to be independent, and the new round of expansion will cause them to give in.

I think the fact that the Big XII almost dissolved scares Texas, and they will do what it takes to keep it in place.. especially with the new playoff format.

i hope you're right for college football, but tamu wanted

May 10, 2012, 10:22 AM

the series to cont and tejas proved their stubborness by saying 'no'.

i don't trust tejas to do the right thing, but more than that, i worry for clemson, fsu and anyone else, that we're relying on OU/OSU to do the 'right' thing and stay.

i don't think they will. you know the bad blood there from years of being under tejas' thumb.

i'd want an invite to the party tbone pickens throws when it happens... :)

can you get me one? ;)

actually... I may be able to....

May 10, 2012, 10:41 AM

but you know that TDP and others will MAKE SURE that's not gonna happen before we sign the dotted line.

i'm sure anyone, save tcu and wvu who were desperate, would

May 10, 2012, 10:46 AM

seek 'assurances'.

syracuse and pittsburgh certainly did and the acc agreed to up the 'out' to $20 mil/team.

how will that work out for cuse and pitt if fsu and clemson leave?

The new Big XII tv deal more or less eliminates the revenue disparity that drove A&M out. http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/05/07/things-looking-up-for-big-12-as-presidents-reportedly-agree-to-tv-deal/

However, the new tv deal announced by the ACC yesterday makes leaving a harder pill to swallow. http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.com/category/rumor-mill/

I think there are legitimate points to be made in either scenario, particularly after the new ESPN deal announced with the ACC.

1st time poster - I was wondering the same thing about the ESPN/ACC deal that was announced yesterday. That is too good to pass up IMO.

Re: You guys can't be serious when you complain about Texas

May 10, 2012, 10:30 AM

Well, the Big 12 deal still puts them at or near the top of the tv metrics, which will be one of the primary criteria for the new BCS playoff system starting in 2014.

The ACC will not be a player in the new BCS playoff system based upon the current (announced) tv deal.

So we're at a crossroads, for sure.

There are arguments to be made in both cases. Personally, I'm not too excited about the travel costs if we move to the Big 12.

I'm very in tune with many schools across the South. Ask Arkansas, Texas A&M, Nebraska, or Colorado how dealing with Texas is. Texas has almost single handily destroyed two conferences.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I don't disagree ... but I didn't know

May 10, 2012, 11:04 AM

Neb and Colorado were in the south

Southern Conferences. Big 12, SEC, the old SWC, and ACC
