It aint that hot

I would say it is normal hot, maybe a little more this week.
Some years are hotter than others. All always complain as to the weather to make conversation.
In SC, in Summer, expect it to be nice and warm.

I am on the porch as usual, and it is only 94.

I understand if you moved here before thinking, and now see this as "inferno". Be glad you did not move to Florida.
It aint that hot. It is just Summer in SC.

The good deal is humidity is still low. If you are still here in August you may die.

I grew up in SC with no AC. We worked outside in the fields.
The Winn Dixie got it in, and folks would wear a sweater to shop there.
Schools, churches - no AC.
We got on fine.

I never wasted money on AC in a car or home until the age of 28 when I married a Yank.

A thousand years ago our ancestors who couldn’t read or write knew after the summer solstice came it would get hot. Every single year.

Thankfully our superior intellects have allowed us to progress beyond recognizing the seasons.

We had no AC what so ever at home in midlands of SC. No window units, just fans to pull air through the house. When I was 12, parents had central air installed. I’d go outside to warm up. Our cars still didn’t have it at that time.

When I was a young boy in the early fifties there was no such thing as heat index. Refreshment was a jar of cold well water wrapped in news paper placed under a shade tree to be enjoyed while working in the field. At the end of the day we drew up a wash tub of water took a bath in the yard and went inside, ate supper listened to a little bit of radio and went to bed. No cell phone, no computer and no television. Imagine that.

it got up to 88 in South Florida, at least on the coast. North FLorida is feeling it. I do not think it has gotten above 94 all summer. The only issue is it stays in the 80s until well after midnight. I am on Nuke like you, so leaving the doors open and running the AC is not much of a strain on the grid, or my power bill.

More on the Summer thread posted is -- "my body has changed".
These days heat quickly raises my heart beat up when just moving about.
I hate that! Growing old is crap!

I have data as to age beyond ### as it has been a hobby for me over decades.
I was at the cutting edge of racers my age in the SE for decades. I have gone under state records even after 50 until I gave up training to build my home.

Last year did a dozen races in GA and SC and came in ahead of all over 70 when I was 77. This is not bragging but to show in the past I could deal with heat.
Lately I try to get out and do a few things at 6am when I would rather be sleeping.

Coming up next week is the 26 mile race up GrandFather Mountain. I have lined up there 9 times. Can I make it 10. Not this year, but yes.
Moving about in the heat raises my heart beat. Locking your heart rate in at 140+ racing up a mountain "for hours" in July is what it is.

I never raced there, but one year did have a goal to be ahead of the my RFH buddy Gene.
Janice High jogged along with me (her husband George fed us potato chips along the way). I wanted to jog as slow as possible as Gene can't go under 3 hours.

Janice kept speeding me up.

Starting slowly from the back we still came on girls racing. Janice would tell them all not to react as she was just having fun torturing me and would not cross the line. Jogging Grandfather Mountain with a National Class runner is a memory few have.
