One problem with Clemson basketball---ticket prices.

Jan 11, 2013, 11:00 AM

Compare football to basketball at Clemson.

It cost $ 35 to go to a lower level football game at Clemson. You see a great offense, orange balloons in the blue sky, the band, the whole college football spectacle.

For the lowest priced basketball ticket of $ 18 at Clemson, you get to see Brad Brownell's very boring and unproductive offense, musical chairs by a few kids at halftime, older Iptay members who do not show up or are asleep on the lower levels, and face it, a rather meh experience.

In other words, at $ 35, football is a much better buy than basketball at $ 18.

The bottom line, Clemson needs to significanly drop ticket prices for basketball games--that might help to get a few more people in the door.

Without double checking, I believe that is a typical price for a cupcake football game.

That is a partial answer to the attendance problem.

It might help recruiting if there were more people at games, the students move to the front, like dook, etc.

If you are a recruit, it does not help, that the upper deck has few people, and the lowest level fans do not wear orange, rarely cheer, and show up with 8 minutes left in the first half.

If you build it, they will come. So far we havent built too much inside the comfy confines of one Littlejohn coliseum.

Football Ticket Prices

Jan 11, 2013, 11:09 AM

Football tix have got to be averaging close to $45-$50 per game, then factor in your IPTAY money and you are looking at even more.

You don't have to give to IPTAY to get individual game tix

Jan 11, 2013, 11:11 AM

you could've walked up to the ticket window for Ball State or Furman and gotten a ticket right before kickoff for $35.

That's right, I am comparing lowest basketball ticket to lowest football ticket.
