I was just watching sports news here in Scottsdale. A story came on about how 10 football athletes from the Arizona State University football team were just awarded brand new Ford Mustang EV automobiles as part of a car dealer NIL collective.
Unreal how things have changed…

oh boy.... don't let them dawgs in athens see this. That's all they need is a high torque EV car to zoom around in.

Probably just a free lease while they're in school rather than given to them outright, but still nice.

Cyber trucks or Rivian's would be the real incentive

have a Tesla Plaid and suck the paint off of the top of the line Mach-E and every other production car, save for a few exotics in the 2 to 3 million $ range.

If anyone out there was thinking about paying this guy to buy/own a Tesla, you can pay me instead.

In a straight line sure… take that plaid against any actual supercar on a real track and see what it does for you. Great straight line acceleration for sure but too heavy and clumsy to be really good at anything else

players getting cars is nothing new? even before NIL.
Getting a lease for 4 years is the most innocuous and low impact use of NIL. If anything this should be looked at as a positive way to go about this.

Ford dealers are psyched to get rid of a few of those things. They are not selling well. I foresee a lot of them turning up in the non-profit world as deductions.

but I'm sure the fed gov't will pick up a lot of that as they are somewhat responsible:decades of strong arm tactics, impossible production and emission standards on US soul and incentive programs that seek to create inorganic demand for a product when there is none. Once again the clean green energy extreme environmentalism proves to be well versed at pi$$ing in the wind.

True, I guess the shock value for me was just seeing it as a feature story on the local sports telecast. It brought more reality into just how "open for business" things are now.

Every schollie player at Utah Utes was given a Ram truck last year. Several guys turned them down because they already had nicer cars or didn't want a truck. That is just insane.
