New Crystal Ball for WR Donovan Murph...

to South Carolina, per Austin Hannon of Clemson's 247 Sport site.

Ugh. How many 4 Star WRs can they realistically take in one class? I don't get why that many would all sign to play in the same class; clearly, some of them are going to be relegated to backup roles. Feel like he has a better shot for playing time signing with Clemson.

Not over yet, but he's spent a LOT of time in Columbia visiting them.

Austin's comments are below:

The Gamecocks have all of the momentum in the state's recruiting right now, especially in the surrounding areas of Williams-Brice Stadium, where Murph is located. While it's simply been convenient, he's been spending the majority of his time around the home team. Face it — that is significant.

It's rather unfortunate that Murph's OV lands on the weekend of an FCS game, but the staff will still do a good job of showing him a good time. This is not over yet. When you have the rivalry game still to be played, nothing can be set in stone. It feels like a dominant effort from one side in this year's game will have a whole lot of impact on recruiting in the state for at least the next 365 days.

Because that's how rivalries go, right?

Murph announced a commitment date of Jan. 3 — right now, I think it's the home team. But the Tigers will still have a final shot, both this weekend and next, on the field.

This notion that Dabo is doing everything ethically while everyone else is cheating has to stop.

Dabo has decided not to use NIL in certain ways, despite them being legal. He has also decided not to use the transfer portal, despite it being legal. That’s on him.

I respectfully disagree. They are definitely losing a few stars (Emanwwori, Simon, several starting DTs, etc). They will need to hit on some experienced talent in the portal.

On Offense:
Their WR class coming in is awesome and potentially getting better with Murph's commitment and some of their returning talent should be much improved under Mike Furrey's Coaching. Protected starters are Harbor, Jacobs, Bennett, and one of the incoming 4 star recruits.

RB: They should have a three-headed monster with Addaway (Starting), Howell, and Matthew Fuller

TE: Michael Smith should be the go-to Tight End for them in the passing game for the next 2-3 seasons with Simon graduation. Kid has already flashed some as a freshman.

OL: Obviously SCAR has stacked some talent here, and they project to be improved here as well with substantially more size on the interior OL.

QB: Sellers. Enough Said. I honestly think this guy could end up being a generational talent.

Defense:
DT: Need Portal Help.
DE: Dylan Stewart and maybe Dez Umeozolo (Sp?)
LB: Losing quite a bit in Debo and Knight. Imagine Gregory and a portal transfer here.
DB: The one place SCAR never worries because they have Terrain Gray coaching the DBs. I think he's the best DB coach in the country year in and year out. They ought to be okay there.

Point being I think SCAR is going to be just fine next year. They will have a brutal schedule again, but Sellers will have another year's experience and that can be the difference in a few of those tough games for them.

Theoretically, they could have a good team next year. However, since Shane Beamer has been there, they have lost large numbers of players to the transfer portal every year (13 in 2021, 21 in 2022, 17 in 2023, and 28 in 2024). Given that roster turnover seems consistent during Shane's tenure, I would expect a similar amount of turnover this offseason as well. All of which makes it hard to predict their future success without knowing who will actually be on their roster next year.

All of these guys (6-8 WR'S) will not come back. Not enough footballs to go around. My guess is Stella's, Wesco or Moore, and possibly 1 other will be leaving. Not being a downer, but we need to prepare for that to happen.

Some may be leaving because they are not being targeted enough, but that doesn’t apply to either Moore or Wesco. Or Williams.

I really like Stellato, but he’ll be competing next year against proven stud Tyler Brown and possible stud Tink Kelly. Plus a potential slot WR signee in the 2025 class. Isn’t Stellato a SR next year?

Adam Randall has a lo of competition for the WR position that he plays. A.Randall is a SR next year.

I like a lot of our guys but theres a reason Dabo wanted to bring in at least 2 guys.

I see Johnson and 1 other hitting the portal.

I would argue Wesco and Bryant’s upside is more than anyone one our roster except maybe Williams.

We need more guys on their level IMO.

- - - remember that Christian Wilkins’ OV was for game vs Citadel.

There might be better opportunity for Clemson coaches to pay attention to Murph because it’s the Citadel game instead of a tough opponent. If lots of players get in the game, then the game will be fun and celebratory.

Murph can determine from a distance whether Clemson is well coached when his full attention is fixed to our game vs S.Carolina on Nov. 30.

One last remembrance: Mike Williams was a lock for S.Carolina until the final moment, when he impulsively changed and went to Clemson. His reasoning was that Clemson had better QB at that time (D.Watson) than S.Carolina. If CK2 has a big game vs S.Carolina and we win, then we have a real chance for this kid.

Great point on Mike! I agree a lot rides on the big game in 10 days. Though, Sellers is already being nationally heralded as a Freshman, so not sure the QB debate will be in our favor. Guy only figures to improve, but it wouldn't hurt our chances if we wreck him next weekend.

They are much better this year.
When healthy, Sellers is very good.
He knows how to win close games late.

We have big depth issues at OK.
Their DL is very good.

If our OL can't protect Cade better how good our WR's are may not matter.

We'll find out on Nov. 30.
I hope we find a way to win.
I doubt that bubble screens and A gap runs on 2nd and long do that.
