How many ever hung out on the Johnstone ledges?

I remember many warm spring days having the stereo cranked up in the room, and sitting out on the ledges with a cooler of longnecks Many would be out there yelling down to those below. It’s amazing no one fell off and died during those years.

Yeah my first arrival in 68 was hot as ####!
Lived on the first floor across from Fort Hill and would climb out and head straight down to Lee Hall.
I do recall one #### of a snowball war that Fall on the Quad. Guys that had left for Friday night HS football games and left their windows open returned to find their rooms trashed and full of water.
Great memories, worked hard, and played harder.

Great place to catch a few rays. You always knew when spring had sprung, students drinking on the ledges with Jimmy Buffett music playing.

when we started back in August and in spring when it warmed up. Y'all would be drinking cold ones, playing loud music and catcalling at the women walking by. Some of them would ignore you and keep walking, but some would look up and smile and even wave. :)

C-8, 81-86. Across from Ft. Hill. Every spring, I took that pillow the girls called a 'husband' and my textbook and listened to everyone else's stereo. Never had any fear of falling, even though I was five stories up. Now I would be scared to death.

Definitely spent some time there. I didn’t live in Johnstone but had some friends that did and we were on the ledges quite a bit.

Sure do. Don’t forget the pillows and tailgate chairs. No longnecks but certainly PBR in can. Lots of laughter and shouting to friends on sidewalk. Johnston C. Some of the best spring days at Clemson. Nice memories.

I seem to remember the A/C and heat unit didn't work well, so we'd stuff a towel under the door so the air wouldn't escape. Or something like that.

I was lucky, though, as the cans had just been air conditioned, and while not there upon arrival, we did get an individual room phone after 3-4 weeks. Even though the room was air conditioned, the two-pipe mechanical system was S-L-O-W in switching from cool to heat and vice versa (like 8 hours). So Fall and Spring could still be miserable.

That room faced the P-Plant, and the view beyond was The Valley. Not bad.

Moved to D-501 for my sophomore year (just to the left as you entered the quad at the breezeway). Great room. Used to draw 6'x8' banners and tape the to the building outside our room window for each home football game that year.

Ah, memories! Moved off campus for my final two years.

Go, Tigers!

C-519 from 72-74. Moved to 9th floor Lever Hall my last 2 years. C5 was the perfect ledge observation hall. Directly across from Fort Hill. Watched girl traffic to and from Harcombe, panty raids, the infamous streaking parade, the band going down the hill pregame, you name it. Great times.

I lived on the floor that was level with the road, but there was still a level below ...... kind of a moat, but with no water. My roommate, since he lost 7 keys our freshman year, had to enter through our window and had to jump the moat onto the ledge.

1984 D4 along the road that goes down to the stadium. We would sit out there with a chair and some beer before games as everyone walked by to go to the stadium. 1985, same room, but no go as clips had been put on the windows.

Johnstone F-Annex in 1995. Poured laundry soap all over the hallway and a couple buckets of water and made a slip and slide. RA was not happy. Great freshman year.

Would jump out on the ledges and go into other rooms if we got a knock on the door for having too much fun.
