or none of that other 80s and 90s European techno crap (Depeche Mode, Flock of Seagulls, Pet Shop Boys, Human League, Erasure, Spandau Ballet, Soft Cell, etc.) that ruined modern music. I get nauseous just thinking about it.

Charts from 1975-1985 where there was a crossover to either the pop or R&B charts.
However, if the songs were considered Western rock(Eagles. Linda Rohnstadt, etc), then they are excluded. Also. If the group is associated with a particular city they are also excluded(Boston, Starship, etc).
To be ultimate Yacht Rock, you need to have Michael Mc Donald on the song or it has to have a nautical theme.

I love yacht rock! I listen to it on Sirius xm and you are right the playlist is limited. After awhile I get really tired of the channel and don’t listen to it but I always go back later.
