Lifetime. And that less than 4 decades. Then add all the other Atlanta teams and well let's just say that still doesn't help out lol. I did enjoy watching the Buffalo Bills of baseball win all that 1 title during that unprecedented run of division titles. That was the only saving grace to our pathetic baseball that was played lol.

That's a losers mentality. If you think it's more fun to be a cellar dweller for 4 decades compared to having the most wins in baseball the past 2 decades have at it. Your best team on paper was beatin by your ex teammate Sid . Not much of a proud past to be a sad sap Pirate fan lol.

But just knowing that 1 title would equal everything the braves did the past 20 years puts a smile on my face. There is no 2nd place. Titles or nothing in sports. And it's not 4 decades of losing. Just 2. Prior to that there was team in Atlanta that seemed to be a pretty big joke if memory serves.....

Braves are the first and only team with 70 wins this year. So yeah...I definitely think it'll be an Atlanta vs Pittsburgh NLCS. (as long as the Braves don't have to play those d@mned Cardinals)

Sounds like the Braves are your second favorite team since you compare your history (or lack there of) to theirs. Took me just a second to verify the Pirates pitiful record. Your last winning season was in 91 and 92 and guess which team took the Pirates out each time? Did you smile over that? Before that I had to go back towards the 70's for previous winning records. The Pirates were recently ridiculed for just sporting a team to make money and not commited to winning. I actually feel sorry for the city of Pittsburgh and hope they do well but as we all know that town will always be a one trick pony show. I was in Pittsburgh's airport recently and saw all the Steeler garb everywhere, nothing Pirates. C'mon man you know better but I like the passion.

look up stats about the Pirates. You don't have to really know much about baseball to know that they haven't had a winning season in 20 years and in their last playoff appearance they lost to the Braves.
I don't have to look up history to know about the Braves. I know that up until 1990 I never had to worry about sitting on the field at any Braves game if I wanted to go see some MLB action from Greenville. I love baseball so seeing it live growing up I only had 1 option. That was Atlanta. I also know I never met an actual Braves fan until they won the NL West in 1991.
I also know that b/c of that awesome support that Braves fans are known for, 7 friends and I were able to go online and buy field level seats to game 1 of the NLCS in 1998 just a few hours before the first pitch. One of the many shining examples of how fans of Atlanta sports teams are the worst (b/c the place was empty if you didn't get it).
I also know that the Pirates have more history, more winning, more tradition than all of the Atlanta sports teams combined.
Btw, the Pirates have really struggled to make money over these losing seasons. Who's claiming they just sport a team to make money? Management has been hammered for years about their baseball judgement and decision making which led to the ownership group making changes that have made a turn for the better recently. Never has there been a claim that they just want money. That's laughable if they were b/c they were failing at that part too.
I also don't need the embellished stories about no Pirates stuff in the Pittsburgh airport. I have Bucco season tickets and fly up every couple weeks to attend games. The lids on the right hand side of the airmall has a whole section of Pirates shirts and hats on the right side as soon as you walk in. On the left side of the airmall the Hometown Sports shop also has an entire of section of Pirates gear and hats. The rite aid also has plenty of stuff too. I've bought gear from these places as recently as last month. Yeah of course you won't miss the Steeler or Penguins gear either, but to say there is "nothing Pirates" means your either blind or ignorant.
Bottom line is even after all the success the Braves have had the past 20 years and all of the awfulness that has been the the Pirates, the Pittsburgh Pirates still have 5 times as many championships than the Atlanta Braves and that gap isn't closing anytime soon!

I hate to lay such a stinging insult on anybody, especially a fellow Tiger, but come on! 20 years ago was TWENTY YEARS AGO. The Braves were the first to 70 wins THIS year and that's all that matters TODAY. I have never understood people's fascination in sports with using the past to make yourself feel better about the present, or justify a point concerning the present.
Bottom line: The Braves and the Pirates are two of the best teams in MLB in 2013. Neither team's history had anything to do with that.

Well I knew that was going to be played when you cant compete with the team on the field head to head. I've adopted the Braves as "my team" being a transplant just like 60-70% of the rest of the fan base. Why is that a problem? I recall when the Braves OUSTED the Pirates in the early 90's with your big head steroid boy, the sound of echo's of Braves fans chopping in cadence IN YOUR TOWN were brought by the bus loads.
The Braves organization has a pay roll that ranks in the middle of 30 MLB teams and has consistently put a winner on the field. They haven't had the luxury to purchase a winner on the field like other big market teams. Common sense. I do know however Atl has a stadium too big for it's fan base only because they were left with a converted Olympic stadium. Atlanta still draws better at the gates than the Pirates and has for decades. Look that up!
You wont teach me much about the game. I've had season tickets for several pro sports in several different markets. This aint my first rodeo son.

by Pittsburgh being a "one trick pony show". Pens gots da best hockey player in the world on perennially dominant NHL team, although hockey doesn't much matter especially in da souf.

I'm sure most fans on a national basis refer to Pittsburgh as Steelers Country. Nobody cares about the Pens (which haven't won anything didly lately) and the Pirates have been a joke since some tacky song from the 70's was played, We are Family' Where's their NBA franchise if it's such a great Mecca for sports?
Good enough?

& lesbos. Everybody knows that. & Steeler Country is (somewhat sickeningly) everywhere; the funny thing is that Pittsburgh has fallen for Clemson big time.
I take it your home pro team is Atl? Not much to go on there my friend but reading your Pirate bashing is a jolly good time, so bravo! but da bucs ain't no joke today compadre!

lesbos lol!
Well we can go full circle with this. The Falcons ofcoarse are no where near the Steelers title wise but today Atl has been more on the verge of a Superbowl team than OLD Pittsburgh. I think Atl has even spanked the Steelers the last couple times they've met.
I've got no problem with Pitt. Just think bashing the quality of what the Braves/Falcons are today be careful of what you wish for They are both built for a championship run.

Somehow I knew this would all be worth it, being a Pirates fan since I started playing ball at age 5(1989). Haven't seen a winning season since I was 8 years old, now I am going on 29 and it seems that all the years of supporting them through all the years of losing makes it even sweeter. Raise the jolly roger, go Buccos

a Braves minor league team, I have been a Braves fan for nearly 45 years.
I can remember going to games at the old Fulton County Stadium in the 70's, showing up about five minutes before the first pitch and being able to buy tickets along the first base line in the lower bowl or behind home plate for less than $5.00.
Back in those days, after thirty games, it was not uncommon for the Braves to already be 20 games out of first place.

I like how its considered a crappy division now, maybe it wouldn't be so crappy if the Braves wasn't beating the hell outa everyone in it! including sweeping the Cards in that GREAT Division! The Braves don't even get talked about much on ESPN cause they're beloved NATS who were suppose to run away with it are getting they #### handed to them. When all they talked about was Nats and Philly and then the Braves just take over, I think that's well earned by Atlanta. (And they had more than they're share of injuries this year as well!)
