Wow the revenue sharing

Should almost completely fix the problem of competing with other money programs.

I had no idea this was happening. That’s huge.

Programs will be able to share 22% of their annual revenue with players.

Yes, it is literally the school now being allowed to pay the players.

These are all the possible ways of revenue:

Media rights
Ticket sales
Sponsorships
Appearance guarantees
Revenue shares from conferences and the NCAA
Money from bowl games

Not sure about how they got that number.

I am sure it was a calculated number, and that they figured out 22% was the amount of revenue all schools could distribute to the players without getting into a non recovery financial situation.

It is part of the class action lawsuit but I don’t think it has been approved. The sticking point is it also limits the NIL revenue but there was pushback from the judge

The NIL limits are the issue.

This wouldn't limit direct pay.
It is a NCAA way trying to backdoor limit private NIL.

That conflicts with other federal court decisions. Federal judges are pretty solid about not OK-ing settlements that are likely to get overturned on appeal due to that kind of conflict.

No they aren’t. That’s an assumption. They were ordered to share revenue by a federal judge. They can’t limit NIL in ANY way.

That gives the Big 10 and the SEC huuuuge advantages especially with a 105 man roster

Maybe, I mean I guess Texas and those schools will start paying even more to players

And of course they would if places like Clemson can pay more to players. Just a competition thing.

This will be in addition to the over inflated NIL market. Not gonna fix a thing. You take schools like TN, Bama, TX, OSU, Mich, etc that can put 100k in the seats and you are losing. None of these P5 schools like VT, Cuse, Miami, and all others like WF, Duke and any school that only seats 60k or less will never compete. There will be like 8 schools that are way above the rest.

I believe the revenue sharing amounts to around $125,000 for each football player. Not sure about basketball, baseball and other sports. The 22% is for all sports and each school determines how they want to distribute it between sports and players. Also, NIL is in addition to the revenue sharing so star players will still get big payments.

Maybe we get one or two basketball players in the near future that will have some good NIL deals or get paid unusually well.

But still, only then, there are only like 15 players on the basketball team. Then baseball is even less revenue generating, but it would help for Bakich. Especially with guys like Billy Amick.

I think Clemson will 100% prioritize football players.

I don’t know all the fine linings of the contacts and all that, but I don’t see any included rules yet about how you distribute that 22%

You’re REALLY LATE to the party. What do you mean GET to share?! They HAVE to share thanks to a liberal judge. How is this a positive?! Clemson already is behind in media dollars earned. This makes the gap larger. Those schools with become stronger while those without get weaker. This killed college sports. What’s stopping nfl players from returning to college?! Under current rules they are no longer disqualified unless their eligibility is burnt. This just made college nfl Jr. We already have a pro league. Now we have two.

David Hood should write an article about the recent court cases. There are a bunch of diehard Clemson fans who are in the dark.

The 22% came from the courts and will act as a salary cap. The 22% is for the average of the P5.

Some schools like Texas Tech will be spending roughly 50% of their revenue on player contracts while schools with big conference TV deals like Texas will spend roughly 10% of their revenue playing players.

In summary. All P4 schools will be capped at roughly $20M in direct payments to athletes.
