Cade has at least seen real combat. So, I get him being the starter to start the year even if Pearman shows signs of potentially being better. However, if you remember when Watson was a Freshman, Dabo said going into game 1 (ironical against UGA at UGA) that Deshaun was going to get at least 2 series because he had earned that during camp. Also, he mentioned that because we didn't have a backup with real game reps, he needed to prepare that guy to be able to win for us if the starter ever went down with an injury (or in reality if the starter underperforms).

I could see a similar dynamic developing this coming year if Pearman can ride this momentum into the Fall.

But history tells us that's most likely not going to happen in this kind of case. Pearman had a great day but I didn't see anything that said he's on par with turning into the next DW4 or TL16.

Remember when DW4 and TL16 came in? Teammates were dropping hints left and right they were the real deal on top of what the coaches were saying....the primary two we hear about are CK2 and CV17.

IMO Pearman looked like Hunter Helms back there yesterday...maybe a little more athletic. Great understanding of the offense and can play smart football. He's probably on par with the better backups we've had like Nick Schuessler (DW4s backup) Chase Brice.

Now, I'm in the thought that if we need a spark, we should throw in someone like Pearman to get the engine going again on offense. Honestly, there were a few times last year I thought CK should sit for a series just to take a step back and let Hunter Helms run a series or two.

That said, I think CK2 takes a step forward based this year based on what I saw yesterday. Yeah, there were boneheaded plays where old Cade showed up trying to make something outta nothing but if he settles more into a game manager role (not a bad thing) and limits turnovers we're going to the playoffs this year.

TLDR:
- Pearman had a great day but don't get too high on that as the truth yet.
- Players haven't mentioned much about Pearman previously so this could've just been a really good day for him.
- I think Pearman could be a great fill in when needed but not sure of long term starter ability based on one viewing.
- Clemson can be a playoff team with Cade if he embraces more of a game manager role to limit turnovers.

All we had to do is limit turnovers last year. FSU we loss in overtime. A sack and fumble returned cost us that game. Miami we loss in overtime. Shipley fumbled when we were on the 1 trying to punch it in. Cost us the game. We loss by a field goal to nc state. A pick 6 cost us that game. Take those 3 turnovers away we finish regular season with 1 loss. I know coulda shoulda. But you are right Cade cuts down the turnovers and we are fine. People expect to see some big jump from Cade from 15 practices. The jump should come from summer camp.

Slow your roll please. Cade is QB1 and will be. Do not go crazy over whatever the Spring Game was this year.
