Wholeheartedly agree! This is a huge message for kids, parents and for us fans. There is some kind of accountability expected at Clemson. What kind of parent wouldn't want that kind of example being set for their kid?

There's really no way around the fact that this one hurts. I'll save my judgement until we know (or can conclude beyond a reasonable doubt) what the team rule was they violated. My initial reaction is this is a little quick to pull the suspension card.

Not sure we will ever know. The only reason we found out about Sammy's trouble is that it was an arrest and that becomes public record, so unless these guys were arrested, which I am pretty sure they wasn't, then we may never know....

svaughn.... not true. I'm a black man (albeit in my early 30's) and I've never did drugs,used tobacco products,nor do I drink alcohol or liquor. If indeed those guys did smoke pot that was their choice and they must deal with those consequences.. and hats off to dabo for suspending those players.

First.. it wasnt last spring that that happened, it was Spring of 2012. Second.. Sammy was suspended for the 1st 2 games where the first game was Auburn. It was a big game and was a big deal. That was in 2012, not 2013. Try to keep up please.

I have to give Dabo props for this one unlike Urban Meyer and his win at any cost mentality. Team rules is usually skipping class or failed drug test if the punishment is missing the next game or opener in this case. The good news is Georgia always has a few guys suspended for the opener so that will help.

Dawg here...Tough luck, but it sounds like CDS & CMR are cut from a similar piece of cloth when it comes to discipline. No one knows better than A UGA fan about early season suspensions & what they can do to your goals for a season. Just be proud you have a HC whose ideals & morals about discipline & teamwork aren't short-circuited by his need to win at "ALL COSTS" like is seen so much in CFB these days.
I hate to hear about your problems & it's likely that by the end of the summer (given our recent history) UGA could be in the same position (we've a starting WR already out for the CU game) as you are...lol..
Rue the players (but remember they're young men & make mistakes) & salute your coach & program for taking a stand. 9 times outta 10 the high road is the hard road to take but in the long run it reaps more rewards...

If this was a substance abuse infraction then the first offense would not require suspension......2nd offense does, as you pointed out and a 12 game season would mean 10% equals 1.2 games rounded equals 1.
If this suspension was for drugs and was a second offense, the third offense gets them booted from the team.
I am speculating, but it seems Bellamy got the dreaded third offense a while back.

I should say - Bellamy at least got his second offense at the ACCCG but it could have been his third since I think he was kicked off the team and Dabo was letting him earn his way back on the team in the spring but Bellamy never made it back on the team.

I trust that if Dabo didn't think he could win the game without these guys, then he would not have suspended them. Or maybe only suspended them for a half. Crawford is a huge loss but our D Line is so deep it probably won't matter. We're already used to playing without Peters. Really the O Line worries me the most we lose alot of depth and Beasley is a starter which hurts. Hopefully our other guys can step it up and do enough blocking to win.

We will be just fine. Granted, we will miss these great players, but we have very good reserves. They just get to step up and show their capabilities, and I bet they do just fine.
