Should be fun to watch. I love seeing a D-line dominate a game. Remember what the power rangers did to FL St a few years ago? Their QB looked like Wile E. Coyote getting peeled up off the ground time after time.

I’m telling you, if our O clicks this year look out!

It all boils down to the O line and QB play. I think the heightened focus on the receivers will result in a huge improvement on that front.
We need the O lime to develop that nasty streak in themselves. They need to go into each game with a take no prisoners attitude! Get angry!
DJ needs to play without fear of making a mistake. Play smart but instinctually! Don’t over think so much. Be the man! And if someone is constantly screwing up, kick them in the a$$! LEAD!
When Justyn Ross didn’t lay out for that one pass that was on his finger tips heading into the endzone last year (he short handed it as if he was more concerned about getting hurt than winning), DJ should have read him the riot act! And when DJ sails a ball over an open receivers head out of bounds, the receiver should read DJ the riot act! Hold each other accountable! Let’s go!

You're not wrong, I just thought it was interesting to talk about the offense so much in an article about the defense.
I think the offense will shine even accidentally thanks to just the 5 guys on this list, know what I mean?

XT has had some injuries & illness to work through

XT has also taken some time off from a work ethic perspective, and he seems determined to earn it all back this season and get back into the NFL draft discussion.
Sheridan has not distinguished himself as a tackler or cover man in 4 years at Clemson. I hope to see Wiggins, Davis, Greene and Mukuba (as needed) at CB position with potential freshman stars Lukus and Pride working into the rotation as coaches see fit as the season evolves. I've pulled hard for Clemson Football since 1979, and each season the coaches speak to senior leadership for a few games -- then they get real and play the top player who can help the Tigers win regardless of class.
Mukuba, Simpson and Bresee are bonafide stars - hope to see them all healthy and leading the team this season. Also, I look for a healthy Tyler Davis (13) to be back to his former level of play with return of upper body strength in 2022. Go Tigers!

In today's world of football technology, offensive coordinators are able to design plays that exploit any weakness in a defense. We have a world of talent, but it is only as good as the whole, not the parts. One constant truth is that speed kills and we have speed across the board.

I'd be amazed if he doesn't kill it at any LB position. He's a freak athlete and a stud.

IMHO Simpson is Goodwin's #1 project

Both with position change and possible play calling responsibilities -- so much speed and talent. Will Simpson, Maguire or Bentley call plays out of the gate? Will Trotter also support play calling role? I expect Goodwin is working out ...

This team will murder the schedule
Jun 4, 2022, 4:31 PM
|
|
This team can beat everyone on this year's schedule WITHOUT these five, make no mistake.
Finally having them all together (albeit not on the field at the same time by nature) & healthy will spell absolute doom for everyone on the schedule except maybe Notre Dame, the one game that doesn't really matter.
XT alone, that guy may sincerely be the most athletic player in the sport; if he's anywhere back near his talent ceiling we're going to murder this schedule & we may be ranked in the top 3 by the end of the regular season.

I am concerned about CB. I just don’t see the Booth, Terrell, Trayvon, or Mackensie type of shutdown CB this year. It’s crucial that Sheridan matches what Goodrich did last year. He might be the X factor for this defense.

Sheridan had some good games in 2018 season even as a freshman. I think dude is gonna be good this year.

Sheridan has the talent, for sure. Just has to put it all together like Goodrich did. We also need Fred and Nate to make a huge leap in development.

I'm not sure who can exploit them
Jun 5, 2022, 9:37 AM

I hear you, & they may yet be improved, but in all sincerity I'm not sure who on the schedule can challenge them outright.
ND doesn't even know who their QB is (& if it's Buchner that's probably good for us) plus that game is mostly incidental. NC State likely has the biggest QB threat, then perhaps BC next (albeit without WR's) & certainly Miami's TVD has a high talent ceiling, but in all seriousness I'm not sure how much the CB play will matter when those QB's go up against Clemson's d-line & pass rush, know what I mean?
CB's by nature are usually noticed for when they make a mistake, often resulting in a big play, but those both take time, & time will likely not be on any opposing QB's side this year, particularly with this schedule.
