With all the talk about moving on from Dabo

Who would you get today to replace him? It’s easy to be frustrated with what we saw yesterday but it’s difficult when you are trying to replace a 2X NC winning coach.
Let me be clear, for me, I’m fine with Dabo. I don’t think there is another coach that would come to Clemson that would be any better and could be much, MUCH, worse. With the state of college football, we can’t compete with the UGAs, Texas, and Ohio States of the world anyway.

Like others have mentioned previously, I also really like Jamey Chadwell from Liberty. He is a young, innovative coach who has taken a small program and turned them into a pretty tough out for the big boys.
He would preserve a lot of our culture and focus on high character, while at the same time adapting to the changing landscape of college football. He is also a heck of a recruiter and runs a pretty innovative offense.

They are not going to fire Dabo to hire Chadwell or anyone else.
But if Dabo decided to retire, then could possibly see that.

Just your acceptance of the situation shows the complacency that has been cast at clemson. Would you rather the slow painful death, or the quick to the head death. I'm not sure about either one, but the known fact is that the program is dying.
For whatever reason

I wouldn’t say it dying but there’s no doubt it has taken a step backwards.
To me, it’s easy to see why. It’s not complicated. We have recruited and gotten two top QBs and both have been busts. You cannot have a great offense/team without a great QB.

Very week argument. You can't put this on quarterbacks. Plus there is a fix for this, called the portal. Dabo does realize there are guys that committed and came to the school to win as well, and with your argument, him choosing to stick with bad quarterbacks have put careers of other players below of those two quarterbacks. That's when players will stop coming.

That’s the problem. If you could trade Cade for Cam Ward, would you? The offensive problem would be fixed.

That is not the problem, it is a symptom of the problem. It is the unwillingness to make changes in policy that is good for the program and the other players. PUTTING THE TEAM ABOVE THE INDIVIDUAL. That isn't just a quarterback issue

I agree it’s going to be tough to compete with the wealthy powerhouses the way the game is now pay to play. If that’s the case we’re better off sticking with Dabo and trying to be the biggest midget in the ACC

I think y'all are nuts. Way underestimating how powerful Georgia is. Clemson can and should still have a great season and make the Playoffs. Probably won't lose again until they face Georgia again in the playoff. Georgia is going to make a lot of teams look like Clemson in the second half...most teams won't be able to play em straight up for 2 quarters.

You can bet graham neff would find someone. Don’t fire Dabo… neff needs to make him adapt and Dabo will or he will retire and we won’t have to fire the coach that made us who we are… if that happened no coach would come to us…I can tell you though a move needs to be made after this season and I’m serious. I hope that move is Dabo swallowing his pride and adapting… I don’t even care about the portal. It’s the NIL he needs to engage in. We need to start paying players to come here. At LEAST a QB

Coaches will absolutely come to any program willing to pay $11 million. Georgia did it to Richt. Oklahoma fired Big Game Bob. Ohio State has fired all of their coaches.

The only halfway accurate example is Georgia.
Georgia: Ritch could not get them from top ten to National Champs. They got an alum who knew the Saban blueprint and it has worked. Ritch was also not a two time National Championship winning coach. Dabo has as many National Championships as Ritch has conference championships.
Oklahoma- Stoops quit. Maybe because he thought they would move on after the next year. Riley left them for SoCal.
Ohio State- They have not fired a Coach since John Cooper. That was forever ago. He was also generally seen as unlikeable. Tressel was fired for off field stuff. Meyer left to go to the Jags.

I agree, and if our fans want to see Dabo use the portal, they had better start donating money bc top portal players isn't cheap and be sure that he has already been told what his average NIL money was, and it wasn't enough to take any of the top players from the portal. So why should he take any if our NIL bank can't afford to take the best. To take any we only end up having less talent than what we're recruiting, and that isn't that hard to understand. The best players that enter the portal they do so for getting paid more than what they were getting where they were...

Great point there. It is a very real scenario. When beaux Collins goes a does what he does for notre dame. These players will see that and when they get desperate they will jump. You only have so much time to show what you can do.

I love the dude...we all love the dude....The glaring problem is he is paid $11m to produce a viable product on the field...a winning product...Not one soul in an athletic setting as a career gets paid that much to just fckn graduate kids and lose. He needs to be in advocacy if that's his lease on life.

Let’s see, Clemson finished ranked 20th last year, so there were 19 coaches that had their teams finishing in a better spot. We can cling to the past all we want, but the present state of the program is pathetic, and not getting any better. Clemson has one of the best football facilities in the nation. Currently, Utah’s ranked better than Clemson and I visited Utah’s stadium and facilities last summer, and they don’t even hold a candle to Clemson’s. Kyle Whittingham would love to have Clemson’s resources and facilities….

Anybody making less than $11M.
Lane Kiffin has proven he'll chase a dollar. Sure, he's got something going at Ole Miss but he'll never win a championship there, conference or national. At Clemson, he can do both.
Will it cost us to get him? Sure, but you cut your losses with the lazy freeloader we have to get a producer.

We don't need a new HC
4

We need Dabo to coach like he did 15 years ago when he was young, hungry, and unproven. We used to be fun and innovative. What happened to that? This program is stale and boring right now. Clemson football isn't fun or exciting to watch anymore.
And Dabo needs to finish undoing his terrible assistant hires that set the program back years. We were successful when Dabo went out and hired good, seasoned coaches and then let them cook. I think maybe the winning went to Dabos head and he thought he could just turn these young guys with no experience into good coaches, but that was never Dabos strength to begin with. He's always been an excellent recruiter and a great CEO-style HC leading and shaping the program. He's not an Xs and Os savant.
Dabo needs to lean back into his strengths. He needs to become and ace recruiter again (and that means using all recruiting avenues available, not just one), he needs to surround himself with good, experienced coaches and let them coach, and he needs to figure out how to rebuild the Clemson brand to make it exciting again.
These are all things that Dabo did successfully when he was building Clemson into a championship level program, and things that he's somehow largely abandoned since.
That's my 2 cents anyway.

This is exactly right. Dabo was clearly riding on top of a huge ego at the moment, As evidenced by the way he’s acting towards fans. Pride and hubris will destroy any man, any company, any organization. Dabo was once humble and hungry, that person is gone and we’re seeing the results

My preference is for Dabo to stay and he fired up about using the portal and all available resources to build the best roster of football players he can.
But if he can’t do that, I’d prefer he move on to find happiness elsewhere. All this pressure to do something that you are very obviously, completely against, can’t make for a happy time.
And that man has to much money to live in misery. He’s wealthy and has a lot of life to live. No way I’d waste my time fighting a battle you can’t possibly win.

I don’t think any real Clemson fans want that … fans would much rather see him change and adapt just a little to the college football lanscape. Again no one is saying we need to build a team around transfers like fsu did bc that’s not sustainable and we recruit very well for the most part, but when you miss on guys or they are taking longer to develop then go get a couple guys that can help you win now. And as far as the offense goes Booger nailed it imo , this offense has become super boring with absolutely no creativity or surprises it’s like we think we can just line up and methodically push ppl off the ball the entire way down the field , which may be the case agaisnt a sc state but if we want to be a threat in the playoff we HAVE to figure out how to push the ball down the field… that’s the issue I don’t get with this offense at all, it’s like we don’t even try it.
