The narrative is Dabo doesn’t use the Portal. Clemson is in decline in 2-3 years they go back to the Tommy Bowden team days that won 7-8. This ACC game win that and you ###### momentum with an automatic playoff bid and you come out of it with a new perspective in hopes that Clemson is on the rise. It would be a successful year should Clemson beat smu on Saturday night. If we lose this game then this season would have been a failure.

An off season for Dabo is a better season than 90% of others.

That’s still a nice grade in my book. Tommy was never close on his best day. Anyhow, you just keep not letting the facts get in the way of your rambles.

Oddly enough, winning this game could have a negative effect. It could provide the excuse needed for Dabo to justify to the masses that all is well and no changes are necessary. He can claim winning the ACC title and returning to the playoffs is proof that his way is a success.

They have a good team. If you ever listen to Dabo He often talks about how games come down to one or two plays. That Game came down to one or two plays! They won the Game but they are not better than Clemson!
And 19 years old means the guy is probably there 1 more year!

It's a big game but how we play is MORE important than anything. If we get blown out, our program is in serious trouble. Unless I'm wrong, SMU is dynamic on both sides of the ball. WE have to be dynamic as well to keep up. Can we? We have to be better than what we have seen lately. It will be a tall order but if we can play smart, few mistakes and with great effort we can do it. GO TIGERS!

I agree somewhat with your post. I believe this game will decide the future of the Clemson program. I want Clemson to win, but I believe the only way any coaching changes from coordinator level down are going to happen is with a loss Saturday night. I know the Dabo faithful will disagree with me, but that is my opinion. I cheer for Clemson. I don't cheer for Dabo. Clemson will always be here well after Dabo is gone and I feel like some of you have forgotten that. Are you Clemson fans or Dabo fans? Dabo needs to make serious changes otherwise he should consider early retirement as the game is passing him by.

If you were actually a Clemson fan with any real perspective on who Clemson has been and who they claim to be then you would be a Dabo fan! Dabo is the greatest coach that Clemson has ever had and its not even close! No other coach in any sport can even be in the conversation with him and that includes Danny Ford. The only one who can come close is Mike Noonan! But soccer does not fund every other sport. So yes I am a Clemson fan but I am definitely a Dabo fan! He made Clemson! And I been a Clemson fan for nearly 59 years! all my life!

While I admire your devotion to Clemson Football, but any basic thinking mind has to notice that Clemson is trending in the WRONG direction. It doesn't take a Nuclear Physicist to figure that out. They got extremely lucky to get in the ACC title game. They back doored in. All of the common circumstances point to this. I love Clemson Football as much as you do, but the signs of decline are there. Even a drunk can notice it. Something is off kilter, and CHANGES have to be made.

How did they back door in? They had the 2nd best record out of all the teams in the league! They earned it. Yeah the Syracuse coach had a cute little joke and Dabo being a good sport played along with it. But make no mistake about it! The team earned it and they did not come through the back door!

True. This game is very important for Dabo's reign at Clemson. A loss further trends in a negative direction for him. It will either symbolize growth or decline for him as a coach. He'll either be 10-3 and in the CFP for the first time in 3 years, or 9-4, with the possibility of losing their bowl game. A bowl loss would end the season at 9-5, a record Clemson hasn't had since 2010, the 2nd year of Dabo's run (when he went 6-7). But on the bright side, it would force him to fire Wes Goodwin, and go to the transfer portal, which is a good thing. A win over SMU will keep him as "stubborn as a mule" with making changes. So, while I hope they beat SMU, part of me actually hopes he loses. He'll make the neccessary changes if that happens, and we can all agree that changes NEED to be made in Clemson Football if the Tigers want to maintain their National Image. History speaks, and history does not bode well for the Tigers under Dabo if they lose to SMU.

You’re only as good as your last game.
What I mean by that is I think the ship has sailed on the “Clemson needs this game to change the narrative of our program”. Unfortunately, we’re past one game doing that. We’ll need to win a few more than just one.

Winning the ACC AND getting to the playoffs hasn’t happened since 2019. IF that happens, I’d consider it a successful season.
